Tuesday 4-26

Euro says wind after rain. GFS says wind and rain.

Tomorrow, maybe a chance of light SW on the west side (Old 41 on Allatoona)

Euro says NW Wed, too. GFS, again, is a party pooper.

Late night edit: WeatherCat has gone positive on Monday.

I plan on heading to VP tomorrow afternoon. Probably stay later in the day for a change. The Windy.com GFS and ikitesurf forecasts seem to have a consensus. Water should feel a little warmer. I think the 6/5mm is officially retired for 2022....I hope.

If I foiled like you I’d wear a shortie but thermals still show the lake in the high 50’s and I spend a lot of time in it so the 5/4 won’t get stored just yet.

I sweated out 2 lbs of water in my brief Sunday session. Air in the 80s and water in the almost 60s is an annoying combo for a foiler since every session starts out chest deep.

See y'all tomorrow.

Fun day, rain cleared by noon and the wind was good until around 5 or so then we all enjoyed a long slow float back to the park.
Sails and wings ranged from 5.4 to Hamdi’s pretty new red Severne 8.0.

Re: Tuesday 4-26

Managed to scoot out to Lake Hartwell yesterday on a bit of a whim for what I was expecting to be a roll of the dice, with a 1-2 hour window of wind hinted at. I packed only one large board and sail: 160L, 8.1. Arrived at Singing Pines right at noon to see the air heavy with haze and the wind raging! (haze was pollen, whipped up by 25-35 mph winds). No rain though. Wind quickly settled a bit to something manageable with the 8.1, and I ended up having a pretty good session. Overpowered for barely an hour before wind settled further into the low-mid teens. Wind mostly remained right around the threshold needed for me to get planing on that set-up into the late afternoon. Hadn't sailed a kit that big in a while.

Most notably...I was surprised at how relatively warm the water is! Was comfy in nothing but a light full-length wetsuit when the sun was out, while a few kids and teenagers swam the beaches in their bathing suits. Definitely nice to cut a few cold-water layers from my "personal rigging" routine, which, in my case, shaves off a very big chunk of my overall set-up time.

Fingers crossed for more opportunities before summer sets in.

Pics and Videos for Van Pugh

I've added the pictures and video I took on 4-26. Still working to improve on my videos. Mostly Allen and Neil who were in the water before I had to leave.

nice stuff! and wow - what a range in one day (right!?). gotta be tough in that wind, and with the big lenses. Nice to see some zoomed-in, shore-based video though.

Thanks for posting - and gad everyone had a good day!

Man that long lens is sharp as a tack.
Thanks Robert!
