Lake George zoom zoom

Flat water, good wind. Rig your race sail and bear off down wind.

New South Wales, Australia

Google maps

People spend a week camping there like we do at OBX, etc.

Anybody ever sailed at Lake Walter F George, aka Lake Eufaula? It’s about a mile wide in the north, 2 miles at the dam end and maybe 12 miles fetch in a NNW wind.

Many years ago I checked out launches at Eufala when I was spending a lot of time in Albany Ga. What I found were numerous “Beware of alligators” signs at all the parks. Apparently the lake has a reputation for being infested with them. Too bad, since it looked like it had a lot of potential.

Never have but it's fascinated me for years. That long fetch would produce a nice swell. OTOH, a west would mean long straight lines and there isn't the terrain down there to make very high wind shadows (like Sawnee Mtn in Cumming)

Oh... not a fan of bitey things. I guess at that point, one should keep driving down to the beach. But, are they very active in the cooler months?

If this helps any: I have driven past the lake in Eufala probably more than 20 times, always between October and December. I've can't recall ever seeing a time when it looked windy there.

What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.
