Re: SadderDay 3/19

I came out of hibernation to join many kiters, wind foilers, and a few wind surfers at OF. It was good to see folks again, sorry I missed you at VP but will see you soon!

Re: SadderDay 3/19

I'm taking home either tin or copper from Midwinters. I'll do a more thorough write up later when I'm not on my phone.
Winds most of the day 10-20 with some lighter patches. We did 11 slalom rounds which was really fun. Each race took 5 minutes for the winner 1st leg about a half mile and then the rest about a quarter. We'd then make it back upwind in a couple of tacks, rinse and repeat. They were doing a start about every 15 minutes.

I was last most of the morning races as this was the first time doing this sort of thing and I hadn't sailed my 8 since last fall. As my confidence picked up, I was able to not finish last more times in the afternoon.

The jibe marks were an absolute trip because there was so much going on with people falling or not foiling through so you couldn't just think about the jibe. Mine improved as the day went on and had a few I was proud of.

Noah and Maverick absolutely were ripping. Yes, Noah can really get off the water in about 7 and he is not a small guy. He may be headed to Europe this summer to sail at a higher level.

They'll be doing another race in November and I'd love to come down. Everybody is super nice and welcoming. Props to Eduardo Rodriguez and the Rudder Club for hosting.

No racing tomorrow because forecast is rain. Heading back early.

btw, Langdon had some stuff come up, otherwise he would have sailed.

No pics because they had some one taking video. Also saw Barretts brother Phillip in the parking lot. He had randomly stopped by! Small world.

I wonder if they still do the Mug Race down there.

Yes. A few windsurfers were thinking of doing it with the right forecast. It's 38 miles as the crow flies. Are we talking about the same thing?

Yep that’s the one. I hear tell it’s a brutal blast.
