This week 2/21-26

Interesting week ahead. NWS has already marked Tue and Frid as dot days while I think there's a chance Thurs could have foilable wind, too.

Tue is an unusual straight S. Sounds like a day for Vanns.

Perusing for p.m. possibility. Easy reach to and from the beach at sailing club in a south. Good

My choice of poison for the day…Did I choose right?’ There’s some breeze on the river with occasional gusts - so hopefully all those who got out for any activity felt lucky on this beautiful day. And for those who didn’t get out…tsk, tsk ?

My ride for the day. I am above the surface, gliding silently, effortlessly, turning with slightest effort, all without a hint of a breeze - just like foiling. Right? Well - not my foiling experience, but so I've been told.

What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.

Channey and I choose... poorly. Breeze stsrted in Atlanta but never made it up there even though for a bit it looked promising. Gene chatted with us and we just enjoyed a pleasantly warm February day by the water.
Not what I'd been looking for but all in all a pleasant way to spend an afternoon

I'm holding out for Friday afternoon when there's real wind in the forecast, and from the WNW, a good, dependable direction at Van Pugh.

If all goes well today with packing and FX holds, I hope to take the early shift at VP tomorrow - maybe 11ish. Afternoon might be better for wind but I need to get back, unload the van and load it with ski trip stuff for early Sat am flight to UT for 2 weeks.

The likely forecast for the next 2 weeks here is windy and warm.

Biggrin (Don't forget to pack the harness tonight.) Hope we cross paths tomorrow. I'll probably get there around lunch time.

Why? Did I say we are going with Gene? ?

On a more serious - and less offensive to my buddy Gene- note: 15-20 everyday with 70F air and water temps is my wish to you all!
I skipped skiing last year for the first time in 30 years, have a season pass to Canyons+Park city which is currently showing 40in base and 300+ slopes open, FX for the next 2 weeks look great (close to spring skiing conditions for most days), we have a room at a slope side condo style hotel, and 3 separate group of friends visiting to ski with us at different points in the trip. Looking forward to feeling like a lucky punk everyday!

Harness in the van!! Hope to see you tomorrow too.

Have fun you lucky b*stard. imho, spring skiing is the best. I used to love rocking just a sweater and having lunch out in the sunshine.

Re: This week 2/21-26

Thank you William, really appreciate the good wishes!
Yeah, skiing with light layering without feeling cold is a blast. Even going up a long lift in the sun, chatting with friends along the way while enjoying the vast scenery without shivering is a pleasure.
Friends coming are at around the same level as us and we have had great ski trips with them in the past, alternating leg burning powder runs thru trees with easy carving thru groomers (and some speed record attempts - my last # to beat is 54.6mph at park city ?).
Truly Looking forward to it!

Thank you Barrett. We are in real good shape with packing and so I might delay getting to the lake some maybe - will likely see you there.

Re: This week 2/21-26

What a day, the weather we've been waiting for - 60ºF & sunny, water has warmed to 50ºF. I foiled early when there were complaints the wind was too West & not up to forecast strength. Then it picked up with solid whitecaps, so I switched from foiling to windsurfing with the same 6.7m Ezzy Hydra Sport sail.

If this sounds like an ad, yes I'm selling the sail because a a year newer 6.7m Ezzy is on order.

Photos of parking lot full, with all windsurfers, wind-foilers & wing-foilers on the water.

Rhett coming in at the end of a fun day on the water.

Re: This week 2/21-26

Big roll call today - in no particular order, Hamdi, Alan, Chris of both varieties, P and V., Barrett, Langdon, Rhett, the Wing bros - Roland and Richard,

Futzed with a sail that didn't like its mast for way too long and ended up killing half the afternoon. Finally got on the water and stretched my tool box a bit by using smaller S'board 725 wing. Takes a bit of wind to get off the water, but it's true what they say about small wings. My GPS was calling out numbers I usually don't hear. Going into a jibe with a small wing like that takes a fair amount of speed to get through. I'd suggest anyone working on their jibes not to go that small - I'd have to go in around 18+ to make it around. I'm sure I can get that down a bit with practice but using a bigger wing will definitely make exiting on the foil easier.

Congrats to Langdon who is just getting killer on his jibes and felt the thrill of G-forces in them today. Everyone's level is rising and really fun to see it.
