Langdon and I wore ourselves out today down by the skyway Bridge. NE wind 14-22. Much steadier than we're used to. We'd run about a mile out upwind in the bay in the direction of the bridge and then foil surf back down. Nice 1-2 ft rollers
Then we'd come back close where the water was flatter and do jibe clinic. Langdon is nailing his consistently even on the outside in the swell. I splatter a handful of duck attempts. This is going to be a long road for me.
Similar expected tomorrow except sunnier

Post photos please.

What foil mast length are you all using down there? I’ll be there next week - I’ve never sailed there.
I used the 103cm mast with no issues. Very glad to have the tall mast out in the rollers
Absolutely great day yesterday. The rollers were so much fun.
But if you want flat water just stay inside the sandbar
Hoping for the same today

Glad you two are having fun near Tampa. Peggy & I just returned from Port Charlotte visiting sick relative - so no windsurfing this trip.

Just stay right of the launch and your good. Mind the reef that circles the area. It's very visible, especially on a sunny day. Like Langdon said, once past that and you can sail as far as you want on NE although if the wind is very east, there are some shallow spots in front of the kite beach. We were doing 3/4+ mile runs out from beyond the sand bar, no problems.
Sorry, Alan, no pics. Tuesday, I was stuck inside the van seeing if the rain would let up (it didn't). Wed, we rigged, went out and just came in long enough to eat. Thursday, nothing to show because the wind died as Gene was driving down and everyone left. Of course, as soon as Gene gave up and drove back north - I was overpowered on my 6.7. I think Gene needs to have an honest conversation with the wind deities. And this was was after him standing on the beach for an hour, wind meter raised high overhead, and saying repeatedly, "I think it's picking up."
Long as crap drive but some really good memories from it. As Langdon said, nice to have a long mast in some of the short, steep rollers. I was riding my 95.
A few pictures -
Langdon with new sail and Tampa on the horizon (look close)

Did take this pic of the cool art work on the wall of the local taco joint we dined at Wednesday night.
Gene, nice pics. Thanks for sharing them.
