Tomorrow Friday 28th at VP anybody?

Showing high 40s and maybe 50s and W 12/18. Also Saturday and Sunday show decent winter conditions.

I'll be ready to go if somebody else is interested any of the next 3 days.

Yes - let’s keep in touch about sailing at Van Pugh tomorrow (Friday). I hope to go after lunch, if forecast still looks good in AM.

Sore from sailing in 60 degree temps down south. I'll be looking out the window with a steaming hot cup of joe in my hand.

The wind looks to be ramping up quickly. If you are feeling overpowered, it won't get better. I remember a similar day in about 3 hours, Tim C and I rigged 7.5, 6.5, 5.5 and 4.5s. Neither we nor our sails were that good back then but the ramp up was still very real.

A cautionary tale that is sort of on point.

Haizar - you can contact me at 404-394-2007. I don't have your number to coordinate sailing this afternoon at VP.

Wind picking up in Roswell. I pulled my dry suit out and was heading to the car when I realized that the idea of getting in cold water and especially wet-cold hands just didn’t sound like a Justifiable price to pay (for me) for any fun the activity might bring otherwise. So heading out for mountain biking instead. Might wait for next FL trip in a week for next water session.

Great post, Randy, on a number of levels.

(Deleted a bunch of old man yelling at clouds comments)

Edit: Make good decisions before going and on the water. Those "extra" ten minutes are rarely worth it. Don't put your friends unnecessarily in the position of having to figure out if you need rescue called after you chased those ten minutes.

There were no 100 mph gusts today, but the wind did rapidly ramp up as the temperature dropped to 35ºF. Gilmer reported 15-18 gusting 31-39 mph while we were sailing. Hazar called it early and came in. Thanks to Hazar for using my camera to take the photos posted below. Chris P. continued sailing on a 4.9m, despite the powerful gusts. Langdon and Marcel stopped by, but did not sail.

Re: Tomorrow Friday 28th at VP anybody?

As I type, this morning, our heat is on and our gas fireplace is blazing. It hasn’t hit 32 degrees here since 2013 and we might do it tomorrow morning. So, nowhere is safe from the cold this weekend. I can hear the wind outside and our crew is chattering whether they have the right rubber to brave the temps. I left my 6/5 in ATL, who would have thought I could have used it here. Picked up my new board yesterday, Armstrong FG 75L. It’s got such a nice fit and finish detail. Felt very balanced and smooth. Pricey but came with a board bag. The Takoon 85L is available if you know anybody interested. It has served me well but I like to keep pushing myself and have invested so much in the Armstrong Foil system that it made sense to match the HA Foils with their Forward Geometry Boards. Stay Warm! Neil

Haizar, you will be windsurfing circles around me when I finally make it back to the lake (when it warms up!). I’m glad you are getting some good use out of the Kona board.

Barrett does, indeed, seem to be the Ice Man! (I had forgotten about this one. It's one of his that I took the liberty of adding a little soundtrack to several weeks ago. Hope that's ok, Barrett!!! )

How did you know? Of course the soundtrack matches. That is exactly what we were saying on our Ice Man run.
