Miserable conditions (cold and no wind) here, great wind and decent temps (67wed, 57thurs, 47fri) in Pensacola. Although I just got back from further south, I might just have to do a quick Wed am - Fri pm trip there. Typical some work, some play trip for me, staying at my timeshare. If anyone is up for it, let me know - I won’t sail the whole time but hope a few hrs each day.

You might see if you can stay an extra couple of days. The long range forecast for next weekend looks brutal.
I am trying to get to Florida Tuesday. If I get to Pensacola I will most likely camp. Where do you launch from? I am looking at Ft Pickens park for tent camping but there are a few places to choose from.
Depending on wind direction, I have been launching from Navarre marine science park (north) or shoreline park in Gulf breeze (south). My timeshare is in Destin, so Navarre is preferable as it cuts the drive.
I have a shorter mast now and might try a park in Destin as well. For Fort Pickens, Shoreline park might be best. If you will get to those, message me and we can exchange numbers.
Brave man for tent camping though - I think the nights will be chilly?
Sounds good, I will check those areas.
Edit: Weather forecast is now less favorable, going to wait for another time.
On the downside, you don't have a place to dry out your wetsuit, if that's what you are using (ie not drysuit). Putting on a cold, damp wetsuit the next day is not... fun.
May want to consider checking the various booking sites (travelocity, etc) for hotel. It's off-season and what you pay for a hotel plus getting a free breakfast may not be that bad. Plus, a hot shower at the end of the day.
For all my blather about camping out, I'd likely do the hotel option. To quote Danny Glover's character from "Lethal Weapon": I'm too old for this s*.

Ahhh, the joys of youth that can endure so much more than our old bodies and minds feel up to.
Having said that, camping near Daytona last week, we used the camper’s heat just one night and there were plenty of tent campers around us.
I'll admit to being a total hypocrite. Given the option now, I'll take a hotel bed every time (and blessed to be in a position to do so.)
