Morning
Just woke up and saw 10-15k to start the Saturday but looks like it will fall off a cliff soon.
Monday & Tuesday look like good bets and I was hoping to get more racing info. William started filling my brain on Thursday but still confused about how to approach the Start. Especially considering being on Foil, if there’s wind! I want to make sure I understand enough to not ruin someone else’s race by getting in the way.
Also, if anybody wants Wingfoil Gear recommendations or wants to see how my board floats them, 85L, feel free to ask.

If it’s a light wind race I’d worry more about getting in your way when you lap us 😂
Keep it simple
Try to start on a starboard tack to avoid most right of way issues. The favored starting end, boat or pin end, is the side everyone will be bunching up on.
Use a watch or something with a countdown timer if you have one or stay close to the committee boat and watch the flags.
And avoid “The William Start” getting your foil caught on the pin anchor line 😂
Main thing …… have fun.
I plan on foiling Monday. Probably Old Fed if it holds SW
If it’s 6-8k, I might have a crack at this race!! LOL
Looking forward to Monday & Tuesday. I was pretty lonesome on Thursday but was so focused on the new foil that it was fine. But the more friends the better Let me know where everyone might go!

Neil please let me know if you go, so we can meet up. I have done a bit of racing both in sail boats and sailboards and very happy to talk about starts, rules etc, any questions you may have.

Re starting: we are going to do something a little different from years past. A “dinghy start” is a 3 minute sequence that uses sound signals, eliminating the need for a watch.
3 minutes - 3 long sounds
2 minutes - 2 long sounds
1 minute - 1 long sound
30 seconds - 3 short sounds
20 seconds - 2 short sounds
10 seconds - 1 short sounds
5 second countdown with 5 short sounds.
A good start is hitting an open spot on the line at full speed right at the last sound. Nothing to it!

Looks like some frisky days ahead. Maybe too frisky on Thursday
Then some thick (cold) wind to follow!
I don’t see any trees! How high did you go? And was that Colorado?
Morning
Having second thoughts about today, Monday. But tomorrow looks like an all day event and the temps look pretty mild. I will probably get to the Lake around 11:00am Tuesday to let the sun warm things a little and stay until 4:00ish. Please post where you’re heading tomorrow. Definitely want to sail with others. Also trying the Armstrong V-Tail if anybody is interested. I have V2 2400, HS1850, V2 HS1550, HA1125 for front foils and V2 300, 232, V200, tails if people want to try or check out. Not sure is anybody besides, Rich, is using Armstrong system.
I’m still going to old Fed this afternoon around 2.
Looks like the rain may move North of Lanier hopefully.
Tomorrow will be a Van Pugh day.

It is looking better.....but still a ways to go.

Hoping to get to the Lake a little before 11:00am tomorrow, Tuesday. Hopefully the wind lives up to the forecast below.

I'm starting to realize I may not have the patience required for Windsport......

It blew pretty good around 5:30 or 6. I came in to rig a smaller sail when Gene was going out, he had a nice long flight with his wing but then it backed off a little so we both called it a day.

Hoping to join you Tuesday 3:00

I'll be heading out to VP Tuesday morning about 11am. See y'all out there!

Gene,
That’s awesome that you’re flying with the Wing. Progress is very quick once you get those first dozen sessions in. I am hoping we can get on the water together today. I am looking out my window in Sandy Springs and the trees are swaying! Still
Planning on getting to VP around 11:00am. Even the local news said 10-15 w higher gusts…sweet spot!
