Kind of long range forecast... Saturday is showing signs of interest. Good day for race training. Sunday, further west, looks good, too. And, Monday looks like an east morning.
Lake Lanier Sailing Club’s ever-popular, annual Halloween OPEN Regatta returns on October 23 & 24, and this will be the spookiest year yet! This event is open to all boats, (PHRF, One-Design, Portsmouth, Multihull, Juniors). There will be lots of activities on Saturday evening, so plan to stick around after you race! Children’s activities include a trick-or-treating hayride through the cabin colony and a costume contest with prizes. There will also be plenty of post-race fun for adults, including a costume contest, signature cocktails, and live music. Dinner will be offered Saturday evening, and this year, all full-price regatta registrations will include one adult dinner/beverages ticket. Come ready to race and have fun…if you DARE!
Registration is now open and available online via Regatta Network. Click the link below to begin your registration:
you all figuring you'll end up at Van Pugh on Saturday? that FX is looking pretty tempting. a long way for me to drive, so I'll likely stick with Hartwell (or the mountains)...but given how rare good days have been these many months, I'll be watching and won't rule out entirely a big drive down.
Yeah, for me, Van Pugh. I get claustrophobic at Old Fed. I see that UGA has a 3:30 pm kickoff in Athens so lake traffic should be much improved.
Langdon, there's boat shows in Annapolis (sail) and Georgetown, SC. I doubt it will dent the cocktail cruiser traffic. However, I imagine most of that crowd will be tailgating somewhere (I hope).
I'm at Old Federal campground (52)
Hoping to get a AM and a PM session in. Might get my younger son to give the wing a try on a long middle fin equipped SUP.
Woke up to 10-14 mph had to secured some gear from blowing away. Seemed steady for about 20 minutes. Went inside for a minute came back out, nada, nothing, zip, zero, not a leaf moving.
Sooooo yeah. Going to be one of them days.
Update 9:30 Back to steady 10-14 with some white caps, 68f overcast. I'm going with a 5m wing. For now?
Sadly, ironically, I didn’t sleep much b/c I was too excited for the big day. Just means I don’t think I,ll be making the drive to Lanier. Will stick with Hartwell. Y’all have a good one, though!!!! Happy/safe sailing!!!!
Endless Simmer race is this weekend at Shell Point, FL.
Lately, me going to the beach seems to cause wind here.
You’re welcome.
The Halloween Regatta, 10/23-24, at LLSC is an open regatta. With 5 entries we’d get our own start.
Carry the flag for us down in Tallahassee. I'm out of town for the Halloween, otherwise, I'd love the warm up. Hope others can make it, though.
Who's up for this? Me... depending on forecast
