Arrived at OBX

We drove through heavy rain along I-95 getting here, passing 5 cars & two trucks that had spun off the road. It was a relief to drive out of the rain & arrive in Nags Head in time to rig & sail. This morning we were excited to wake up with the sun shinning upon Roanoke Sound covered in whitecaps.

Photo: One of several cars & trucks that spun off I-95 in heavy rain on way to OBX.

Glad you got there safely. So many times the people driving too fast not only take themselves out but someone else, too.

What are these whitecaps of which you speak? I've heard many tales of them from my forefathers but don't recall having seen one myself in what seems like ages?

I'm afraid whitecaps are becoming an endangered species. Then again, maybe I have windamnesia - I can't seem to remember any wind I had more than 3 days ago. Seems like there was something on last Wednesday......

That's the problem with a decent sesh... it only makes you want more. For me, if it's a great sesh, the next day, I'm shattered and can give it a miss. But, by the second day when I start going into major endorphin withdrawal, the cravings start to skyrocket.

Rule No. 17 of windsurfing: If it's not blowing today, "the wind always sucks here." Lol
Rule No. 18 of windsurfing: If it didn't blow yesterday or the day before or day before that, etc (n>=14), you probably live in Atlanta.

Today was classic OBX. Wind whistling, screens rattling & whitecaps all day into the night. NE 25 mph in the AM, increasing to N 30 G35 in PM. Warm enough to windsurf without a wetsuit & no weed fin needed.

Darron is cursed. After learning in wind like that, he'll never settle for "normal" conditions. Lol

Thanks for the pics. Give everyone our regards and congrats to Darron.
