Re: Thur Fri 9 and 10

Sparse attendance. I had the parking lot to myself for quite some time until joined by both Chrises, and eventually Ed and Langdon. Bruce, Caryl and Gordon stopped by to say hello.

Went with the 5.4 which worked quite well. Had about a half hour of uninterrupted air time before coming in for something to eat. Wind died off afterwards but eventually filled back in for a good last half hour at which point Ed and Langdon took over late shift.

Wind was a bit weird - NW for most of the day filling in much more over by Lake Lanier Islands but it was hard to make it all the way across to Aqualand without hitting a hole. Jibing in gusts was imperative. Made some progress going directly into the new front strap on jibes which works well powered up but not enough time to do it underpowered as just getting around by any means is more important.

Unless the WeatherCat changes something tonight, tomorrow morning looks like a dud.

It was a reluctant wind. It wanted to blow but for some reason it wouldn’t… or couldn’t. Perhaps it was guilt from the untoward antics of sister, Ida? Or maybe some childhood wind trauma? Who can say? Not me. I can say this- I spent a lot of time not foiling while watching webguy reel off mile after mile of foiling runs linked by his usual smooth jibes. I hate you, webguy. ( I mean that in the kindest possible, you’re-an-inspiration-to-us-all way).

Big wing / small sail did inspire me to try a lot more jibes but alas, only a little progress. It was great to be out on a beautiful day. Good

I also had a good time foiling from our camp site at OF. About 15 miles in 2.5 hrs - I would say 60-70% on the foil overall.

As for conditions this am - kayaking pics should speak for themselves. Nada for windsurfing but near perfect for kayaking with my wife - or working under the awning (shown in the background in the 2nd pic) until next kayaking session of the day ?

Appreciate the weather report. Looks like the east wind is about 2 hours east of us.
Looks like a nice morning. Enjoy your time up there

I spent a lot of time at Galts working on some of the finer points of sail rigging. Mainly getting enough downhaul when you are a 138 pound weakling, and figuring out how get a sail to rotate like it's supposed too. After that I WindSuped, Eddie O. windsurfed, and Francisco O. Wing-GO'd. (as in Wing with a Starboard Go.) Lots of wind at times, mainly during my rigging debacle. As the day went by the wind became more and more "blow hesitant" as Chris described.

What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.
