Wed afternoon - slim chance or am I nuts?

I haven't been on the water in maybe a month so I'm just dreaming up forecasts now but there's just a tiny sliver of hope for Wednesday afternoon for a SE breeze in the afternoon. That or just rain.

Friday is looking similar.

And, yes, I'm probably nuts. Wacko

This entire thread reflects the sad reality that I haven't seen foilable wind in a month. Blush

There is a cure for this.

62 pounds. Probably $6,000+ with shipping. If you add up all the $ spend on boards, foils, sails, wings, trips to places with wind, and time wasted this is probably cheaper. Seems like a better deal - can go anytime you want. I guess my question is why do we only consider sports that require wind - and more of it than we usually get? Is it that we are in an abusive relationship with wind but are afraid to leave it. Is this battered windfoiler syndrome? You might know someone well qualified to give an answer with that.....

We were in Seattle last week and happened on a guy giving a efoil lesson. He insisted that the $6k ones were rubbish and he'd only sell the $10k one. They look pretty nice. I asked if I could pick one up. He said no. Good

Turns out you were sort of right. The wind did come up a little from the east today. Nowhere near enough for me to foil, but for others - who knows.. Oddly, the wind was strongest (4-8ish) when I was rigging and packing up. in between not much aside from a couple of gusts (~8-9?). By the time I first went out it died and I couldn't get off the beach so decided to go from WindSUP to SUP. Wind finallycame up enough so I could get off the launch and WindSUP and so I did.....

At least I proved my new Windsup won't fly off the roof of my Civic (with my "soft roofrack") which was the best excuse I could think of for going to the lake..

Re: Wed afternoon - slim chance or am I nuts?

That one is 14k. The Waydoo 6k model has had a number of quality problems (as suggested by the guy selling the 10 k models) - broken wings, rust in the wrong places, overheated motors but they have honored warranties so far.... The interesting thing about the waydoo is the very dense foam (EPE or EPS?) body - which saves a lot of money apparently and there were no durability issues reported. It would seem to me it might be an option for wing boards because they would seem to put a lot less stress on the board than an efoil that weighs 30 pounds more. Does require a mold - but it seems like Waydoo already has a mold that would work just as well with wings as efoils. This foam (or something similar) has been used for surf and SUP boards for a while now.....

No matter how much you spend on an efoil the issue that concerns me is whether the manufacturer will be around in a few years. They are all startups no one has ever heard of. I think these boards could be made a lot lower cost but they need a big manufacturer to bring them to scale. The best outcome would be if a big company with deep pockets bought one of the startups making these.
