I remember one year here it got up in the triple digits and produced some good wind.

Was it 1980? Every day in July it was ridge soarable at Lookout Mtn. Northwest wind from high pressure centered over Texas.

Re: Weekend forecast for Hood River

I remember somewhere around '08 it was above 100 for a stretch of days. It was the week of Mary's summer soccer team camp - brutal. I remember watching the temp in my car around 109-110 as I went to pick her up a few days. They'd take a gallon of water and an extra pair of socks to change at lunch.

Today's forecast high is 114.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Seattle WA
830 PM PDT Sun Jun 27 2021

.UPDATE...All-time temperature records broken across the region
today included Seattle, Olympia, Port Angeles, Shelton, and
Hoquiam. The thermal trough shifts from the coast to Puget Sound
on Monday morning. Coastal highs will likely be achieved early in
the day before the sea breeze cools them down. As for the
interior, well, it's another story. The presence of the thermal
trough over Puget Sound will maximize the easterly gradient during
the morning. With morning lows already starting in all-time
record territory, temperatures will skyrocket at sunrise. As there
is no previous occurrence of the event we're experiencing in the
local climatological record, it's somewhat disconcerting to have
no analogy to work with.
Temperature records will fall in
impressive fashion. Stay cool, stay hydrated.

Cooler air arrives Tuesday and beyond, but we're speaking in relative
terms. Above normal temperatures are locked in for the foreseeable
future. 27
