OF live, 8:30: light wind, no boats, near empty lot. 7.6 might work, supposedly would get stronger soon

I picked second shift at Old Federal 3:30-6pm, it was a really good day! Used my foil board with a new Loftsails 6.8. Had a few decent flights and a few indecent as well. Wind was very gusty and changed direction a few time, boat traffic was not so bad, probably because the sheriff's boat was close by and helped ease the traffic! Afterwards wife, kid and I had dinner at Pig tails. Surprisingly awesome burger, and the IPA never tasted better! Awesome day all together

Channey you’re a brave man foiling over that shallow area.

Well, I do believe windsurfing is considered one of the original extreme sports, Alan. We all posses a sufficient amount of bravery to even practice it. Now you know I like using slightly bigger sails, than recommend, but at Old Federal I was just doing what all of us do, or at least I thought so until now, that you said something! Shouldn't I use that area?

When the lake is 3 or 4 feet below full pool you can wade out to the island. Not sure how far below full pool that you can walk on dry ground to the island but we have done it at least twice in the last 5 years.
My 90cm foil mast will drag or hit bottom in the shallow area when slogging that goes between the north tip of Old Fed and that little island with the current lake level
Sometimes people throw the pieces of Rip rap out there also. Really dings foils up.
I have flown over it a few times but it was not wise for me to have done so. Catch a trough of a one foot wave and crunch.

I'm not sure exactly where this happened, but we were all sailing at Old Fed when it did......... Yes 3 The landbridge is a hazard but the rocks around the island and the little peninsula south of the beach where people fish are probably even worse.

What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.

Fins are fine there but I’d avoid that shallow area on Williams map with a foil unless you’re sponsored and get free gear all the time. Just trying to help, Don’t want to see you damage your gear.

Like Randy said
I’d also stay a good ways away from the island too.
There’s some big rocks about 10 to 20 yards just west of the island. Don’t ask me how I know Dash 1

Other than the few avoidable hazards Old Fed is probably one of the calmer places to go on holiday weekends since most of the boats coming out of that cove are sailboats.

Geez, guys, I flew like 20 times over that bar! If I knew I would not have been so wreckless! Anyway that's in that past! Any one going today? Looks windy in my house, but apps not showing anything!

That’s my first foil board - still have it, in case I get inspired to rebuild it one day. It ‘folded’ as shown at the tip of the island. I knew the rocks were there and still couldn’t get myself far enough from it somehow. I have a little more control at this point but not much Smile
