Yes, Vanns. Hope the dots aren't just Weather Cat's doings. It'll be a great tune up for OBX

Re: THIS WEEK!

Meanwhile in the OBX, we've windsurfed nine days in a row, but the forecast looks bleak through the end of the week with, light & variable. However, the last three days the wind was forecast to die, but the wind gods didn't read the forecast and we windsurfed each afternoon. Hope this is day 10 windsurfing, then I need a break.

Just so long as your break does not extend into next week.....

Re: THIS WEEK!

I've never seen an OBX forecast this bad. Despite a forecast of light and variable, we sailed again this afternoon - making this: 10 WINDSURFING DAYS IN A ROW !!!

In the photos, I'm windsurfing with a GoPro camera on my helmet capturing former Atlanta windsurfer, Alain learning to foil on a Slingshot gear rented from Ocean Air Sports.

Re: THIS WEEK!

I bet it’ll change for the better for you.
I remember it changed about a half dozen times the week before my last trip there. Even my worst trip (wind wise) was still fun.

Re: THIS WEEK!

Ran up to Galts. First time there in a while - it's closer to the new digs. The water was dead flat and the wind was very puffy, 8-18. On a foil, you get to the other side pretty quickly so it was a good day to practice jibes both over and underpowered. Started to work out some issues that have been plaguing me.

Lady checking parking passes confused me with Randy or Bill. Asked me how I liked my new van. Apparently anyone with a windsurf board is the same guy. Biggrin She was sweet.

Traffic on the way up didn't cooperate so I didn't end up saving much time by going there but the trip back was markedly faster.

Looking forward to tomorrow. Rhett and Rogier both have mentioned going. Should be a fun day.

Re: THIS WEEK!

Good turnout for today at Vanns.
Parking lot was full.
I did not get there to late but I still got plenty of rides with the 5.7m
Foildude was scooting right along with his new Moses

Re: THIS WEEK!

Crazy good day - warmish, breezy and like Langdon said, a great turnout. Rogier, Alejo and Dave D. kited, kitefoiled and Dave got his new Naish windfoil board wet. Dave M and Al windsurfed. Gene, Alan, Chris P, Rhett, Chris V, Langdon and I windfoiled. Roland winged.

Great vibes all around. I love this community - the positivity in the parking lot and on the water makes it so much fun.

My "Oh, crap" moment came when attempting to drag race Al in a big puff. We were on similar sized sails which meant I was OPed like crazy. Got real high while pushing it and contemplated my impending doom but, luckily, the wing stayed in the water. Another couple of inches and it would have been a nasty one. Al was just upwind so he had court side seats to the show.

Move of the day: Rogier boosting a big jump on the kitefoil and landed it foiling. I-m so happy

Even a blind squirrel on the banks of Lanier finds a nut feels a breeze every once in a while... Biggrin

Seriously, this week made up for the previous two that had maybe one sailable day.

That's about how high I felt like when I was sailing beside Al. Biggrin What a great way to break in new gear. First day out and it just works. So, so happy for you. So cool to ring up Sailworks, Ezzy, etc and get "the guy" on the phone and get help. I hope the business never gets too big for that.

Re: THIS WEEK!

It wasn’t a bad day. I only sailed from 11 to 2 . We started out on a 7’s then went to a 6’s Upwind was pretty solid. Gene, Rhett and Jim were still there when I left. I think David D and Roland showed up after I left.
