Starboard X-X Wing. Tillo has two similar boards as do other firms. Windfoil, wingfoil on the same board. It's possible to have an OBX quiver with a couple of sails, couple of wings and one board. Maybe the end of the OBX trailer?

I'm not feelin' the carry handle on the bottom. And I probably have a smaller hand and fingers than most guys.

Curious as to why - especially for a wng board, that's where it balances for me carrying the foil away from me.. On my windfoils rigged with a sail, it's boom and the foil mast.

You can be like the big PWA gorillas and carry your whole kit on your head. Lol I'd break, literally, my neck if I did that plus I lack the strength.

I just think it would too hard to carry with 2 or 3 fingers.* Plus, the issue of putting it on the bottom. I don't see the problem it is solving.

*Like what if you need to give the finger to some boater that is in your way?

Maybe time to hit the climbing gym? Your other arm should be free to express your opinion to any offending boater. Biggrin

My Fanatic has a full size hand grip while JP have theirs on top. Looks like there's probably a different brand in your future. No biggie. Good

Windsurfing below 5.0 conditions It would be probably like riding a pogo stick.

I'm pretty sure this board is not intended to be ridden with a fin.

My mistake, thought it was a convertible windsurf/foil board. I still wouldn’t want to go all the way to Hatteras without a windsurfer though.
Maybe a 2 board on the roof top no trailer solution.

Do they make a weed foil for Hatteras? Might be useful for crab traps and anchor lines too.

I'll still likely haul everything I've got including 72 l. wave boards that get used once out of every five trips. But those 2 hrs that I use that stuff, it's sublime.

You do have the room to haul everything and take a few hitchhikers and their gear along as well..... Yes 3

Yes, yes I do. The black magic bus is ready to roll. If we drag the trailer, room for lots of toys. Biggrin

Re: Is this the future of hybrid wing/wind boards

Update - first ride on my Tillo Freefoil Wind/Wing Convertible. Pics are from the factory as I forgot my phone today. Mine looks exactly the same. 125l. x 195cm x 75cm.

Is it fun? Yes. Is it occasionally a PITA? Yes. First things first, I got this board so I could have an easy quiver for trips. It'll easily take a 6-4m2 wing and a 6.0m2 or smaller sail. It has a tuttle box for windfoiling and tracks for wings. It easily fits in the van. It looks good and seems well-constructed. Plenty of inserts for both wind and wing and nice deck pad.

First thing, I had to postpone my first sail because it takes really long screws for the tuttle box. The board is thick, squeezing 125l in 6 and a half feet and you gotta put the volume someplace. A trip to HD for some 3 1/2 and 4 inch screws. The 4 inch fit in the front screw hole and it took a 4 1/2 inch screw in the tool box (lucky me) to finally reach the back barrel nut.

Second, it's short. Not as short as some compacts which are 165-170cm but even for my light 65kg, you don't want to be anywhere near the nose if you can help it. Note that there is no deck pad or non-skid in front of the mast track. The matte finish paint isn't slippery but the reality is you aren't going to be standing up there long or at all. One needs to stand with both feet behind the mast track to uphaul.

Third, the release from the water from the tucked tail is too good. The board wants to pop out of the water before there is enough speed for my 1100cm2 foil wing. OTOH, it feels a bit less quick to plane than my previous small board so you have to find that golden gust to get off the water. Or, it just may have been that it was really light at times today to get off the water with a 5.4. Time will tell. I expect that this behaviour to be a virtue with a larger wing for wind or winging.

Did I mention the nose is short? Don't touch down hard. I was on a screaming reach today and touched down hard - not a foil out but just close to the water and the nose was pushed down by a gust. Carnage ensued. It doesn't deal with powered up foilouts well but I did foil out on a slow jibe and it bounced off the water fine. I was able to pull off a couple of tacks on it.

Once up in the air though it does exactly what it's meant to do. It's a wonderful deck shape and, transferring my set up from my other boards, it worked straight out of the box. My front (and only) straps were in the perfect position and everything was balanced. I can't say that it was noticeable having a 25cm shorter nose but, in the 10-20 mph wind, I quickly forgot whether it was up there or not.

It's easy to rig and carry and I imagine I'll get better at handling it when it's not in the air. I love the deck shape and that alone is enough for me. For experienced foilers, it's a fun board. For someone starting out who's neither light or an experienced windsurfer, I'd recommend more volume as there's enough going on in those early days of learning. It's definitely earned a place in the van.

For bigger folks, there is a 156l 230x80cm version which probably is a touch big for winging but would be great for windfoiling.

Fanatic has joined the fray. Their new 2021 Stingrays are short and have a very long foil track (plus tuttle). HRS and LTD versions differ slightly in width and volume. LTDs are smaller and about 20cm shorter.
