Forecast looks good, west wind with only a little north in it, I'm thinking Old Federal around lunch time, but if it does turn more north (300+ degrees) maybe Van Pugh.
Some of us consensused at Van Pugh. Chris Pyron, Shred Dog, Channey and Roland joined me. 12-20 with gusts to 25 occasionally in the channel when I got off the water at 3ish. Water is still a bit chilly which probably contributed to the gustiness. The front edges of the gusts were brutal at times.
With Gene’s live sampling and pursuant decision, I joined him at OF - was not disappointed. Regretting not bringing the 3.7 sail with me (yep, I don’t learn - can’t teach an old dog new tricks), I rigged the 4.7 with strong out haul and the Moses 720 wing. Finally got a decent taste of foiling with that wing and for car guys, this is my analogy for the 3 Moses wings I now have:
1100 - Cadillac Escalade
795 - Audi A4/A6?
720 - Ferrari / Lamborghini (based on my vast experience of driving these cars :)).
Meaning, for my level and gusty conditions today anyways, twitchy and hard to settle in but, if/when you manage to settle into a flight with it (rare for me today but a handful of times - maybe!), exhilarating! How I managed to not crash in an hour of riding that, I don’t know. Then had enough of that handful beast and swapped to the Cadillac for an 1.5 hrs of peaceful gliding (mostly as gusts continued).
I may try for a quick VP session around 1.
I intend to sail today as well - likely arrive ~2pm. Location - open to both sites; let’s see if group gets to a consensus.
VP 12.40, direction not too bad, dark water around the corner
OF 12 50, side on, some caps, gust to 15 mph. Going to rig 6.0 or 5.2 at OF.
