I'm waiting until tomorrow. Two solid days and I need to pretend I'm busy and do chores. In my defense, I was baby-sitting a server last night until 11pm.
If today is like the weekend, it'll be puffy but worth it with a foil. Looks beautiful outside. Enjoy!
9am Vanns live: sunny, decent breeze, no white caps. Big wing plus 7.6 would work, 6.4 is a maybe. I will rig one or the other (how is that for decisiveness?) and give it a go.
1hr report at Vanns- 30 min of foiling bliss, 20 min on/off, 10min skunkville.
If it’s any indication, Alejo just landed his 12m sail on the boat ramp and got out.
If I had time, 7.6 might make it at best on/off right now.
That’s all we have time for folks!
Yesterday every 15 min or so a gust would be strong enough to pump up on but as it got warmer the gust were fewer and farther between. Plus you had to be upwind of bozo or the gust would disappear before it got too you. Trees were moving, Definitely seemed like a dome effect.

I'm blaming it on the new GFS model......

A good day for Barrett and me at the Pugh (trying something new here). First hour we had decent wind out in the channel. Barrett broke his tendon and was able to slog back in without damaging anything. I suckered him out for part II and it was good for about 15 min and then the wind shutdown hard. I was looking at a slog all the way from the channel and, worse, the wind went E so I'd have to tack back.
Barrett got a mercy gust was able to foil back in and, being the smarter of the two of us, decided to call it a day. Me, with the brain of a canary decided to stay out. Even idiots get lucky. I got a half hour of 12-18 with almost perfectly flat water so I hardly touched down the whole time. finally starting to get some of my jibe mojo back, too. The sun came out briefly and seemed to stifle things so I elected to call it a day, too.
Foiling powered up on flat water is a brilliant feeling.
Here's what happened because I forgot to replace my tendons last year in Nags Head. There were no visible cracks. The tendon broke inside the base.
Apparently foiling puts more wear on tendons because they are bent 90º when wading out to deep water to launch.
Luckily the safety webbing was in good shape. I also lifted my sail up as much as possible to avoid putting a hole in the top of my board. Other than the tendon part of the base, there was no damage and I had a fun day sailing.

I agree. Plus you really don’t really need the shock absorption of a tendon so I went to a mechanical base for foiling. I’d like to try one of the Chinook hybrid tendon/ mechanical bases sometime.

The Chinook hybrid tendon/mechanical base is legit. The shock absorption of a tendon with the flexibility of a mechanical. I couldn’t imagine foiling without one.

Wise choice. It’s skunksville here.

If fx holds, i intend to try Vanns tomorrow am - likely 9:30-10 to noon.
A couple of us are planning to go to Tidwell tomorrow ~10 am for wingfoil (or in my case attempted wingfoil.)

I hope to sail tomorrow morning. Waiting for updated Fx to decide launch.

Are you selling tickets or can we watch for free?
You can watch for free, from your wingfoil board. Otherwise, tickets are required.....

My board relocated from Florida. It likes cold water even less than I do.
You get to see my baptism in OBX - for free.

Edit: feeling enough gusts to go with 6.4
Meeting Barrett at Van Pugh around 10:30-11.
Heading to VP ETOA 10:30AM.

They just don’t make em like they used too.

I looked on the Chinook web page and can't find the Chinook hybrid tendon/mechanical base. Is it just their tendon UJ with a two bolt base?
