Sun - Feb 28

The last day of the shortest month is showing a bit of promise. SW winds and warmish.

I may emerge from my cocoon for this.

Update: According to the fishing report in the Gainesville Times: "Lake surface temperatures this past week ranged from the upper 40’s into the lower 50’s."

Considering it. Given wind direction, likely OF.

Looks like a possible dome type day. Air temps up to 72 and water ~50. Despite all that I may still go. I just may not drive as far though.

I don't disagree. Hopefully, the wind will be strong enough to push the dome off periodically. Blast... wait... bob up and down... blast. The kind of day where your feet go numb while the upper part is sweating bullets.

And if my first post wasn't pessimistic enough, with the warm temps it could be "Take Your Congregation to the Lake Day" and of course, a fleet of motor boats. Not really the kind of day where a sinner can get a break. I hate it when summer starts in February. Lol Nevertheless I may persist.

Well, with all that said, I think I got convinced that rowing or mtn biking would be better choices for me - maybe one today, the other tomorrow.
Hope it works for those who persist.

Randy, good news is I often bike to the rowing club - about 2.5-3 miles, all through bike paths around our neighborhood lake and then riverside. Scenic 15min ride.

Having said that, likely row today and mtn bike tomorrow after trails dry some.

This is my ride to Azalea

Now that’s a good cross training plan.

Hoping to start one myself. Our local park benefited $$$ from the movie industry and built a new rec center with pool, climbing wall, exercise room, bike trails and even a nice water park with a lazy River.best part It’s only a 7 mile bike off the beaten path ride from the house.

Re: Sun - Feb 28

Well, looks like I'm cross training tomorrow, too.

Lift (load my gear into the truck)
Hike (carry my gear to the water)
Swim (I haven't jibed in about 8 weeks)

Then, I'll drive home listening to this song.

Of course, if the forecast goes sideways tomorrow, I'm going to use my mod powers to erase any hint that this post ever existed.

I had a good session last Sunday. I hope to have another one tomorrow. The only question I've got is where to go.

Looks like the OF regulars are flaking out making other plans Mosking . May go to VP. I'll decide in the morning unless someone expresses a strong preference.

I'm going to do VP around 1:30. Makes other stuff I've got to do easier.

Howard, I'll toss the Ezzy in the truck but no worries if you don't come. Looks like a couple more times to go this week.

If anyone is interested in Two Mile: https://windsportatlanta.com/wiki/Two_Mile_Creek_Park

Randy, I expect a full report on Two Mile and kudos for risking Buttercup Syndrome to come out. Good

As one of the flake outs those who made other plans, I was actually considering taking my windfoil and mtn bike gear to the lake this afternoon and do one or the other based on conditions. Just checked LLSC webcam and the lake looks calm as can be. Based on direction (SW), i am thinking that is a decent gauge of actual conditions?
If that changes after lunch, I will swing by 2 mile or OF based on direction.

My daughter visited from out of town, so we climbed Stone Mtn. The wind came up abruptly from the SW & was quite strong & steady on the mountain. Back at the base there were only gusts. I hope someone reports on conditions at the Lake.

I’m thinking of going tomorrow afternoon, if the rain moves through.

We had 84 degree air and 53 degree water over in Augusta! Somehow enough wind made it down to water to be foiling on 5.8s about half the time, but it was crazy gusty. Still a good day of February sailing.

Similar experience for me...I mountain biked on trails around lake Alatoona (blankets creek) and felt quite strong gusts at times even in the woods. Lake surface seemed quite flat from what I can see.

Re: Sun - Feb 28

Al wingfoiled today with his 6 m wing and ~ 90 liter board. Seemed to me like he got a pretty good number of flights in and sailed probably a mile upwind and back. I, on the other hand, attempted to windfoil on a 5.0 for about 45 minutes. I was going rig 6.0 but brought the wrong mast but still managed to get some flights. It would say that I was "rusty" but I think "rusted out" would be a better description. I think a better windfoiler than me with a 7 would have been up in the air a lot. All was quite stoked upon return to shore and all in all no Buttercup for us.

Re: Sun - Feb 28

Channey and I foiled VP and joined late by Ed on his 9.5 and fin. Wind was SSW out in the channel and would cycle from 8-10 to 15-20. When it was on, I was in depower mode. Rigged 6.7 and Channey rigged 7.7.

Trey came out to exercise his nice power boat and we stopped and chatted for a bit. He took some video with his phone so hopefully some evidence of the good conditions.

Nice to be back on the water. I was a bit anxious for the firt 10-15 minutes and it felt a little strange but I soon settled back in. Made a number of jibes and crashed a fair number, too. Forgot to take off my little, cheap exercise watch and drowned it. Other than that, just a solid, nice day and thankful to be out again.

Randy, so Al has joined the winged Mafia... that's pretty cool.

Anyone do Old Fed?

Had a nice day on the sailboat with homies. It got a little frisky at times almost causing drinks to be spilled. We survived to sail another day Good
