If the forecast holds I hope to go to Vanns Tavern at or before lunchtime.

My plan at the moment is to be there but, as the saying goes, ‘Man plans, God laughs’.
Likely early pm for me though, depending on timing and duration of the am hike.

Live update, vanna tavern, 11.30, dark water but not really capping, plenty of parking, pretty day.

Rest room closed for cleaning.

Nice pictures. I particularly like No. 2. Kind of makes me think of the book Gulliver's Travels. Watch out for those little guys Barrett!

I had a head wind while cycling today on the return leg - I'm the least qualified to comment. SE are so unusual for me they are hard to suss out. It's the NE and E that tail off pretty much like clock work but there have been times when they've been strong enough to make it worth hanging around. Maybe nature just took pity on us and let it blow a while to make up for the past few weeks.

(Short version - I don't know what I'm talking about. Ignore me.)

Re: Sunday 2/21

The wind at Vanns picked up about 11:30AM while I was rigging. There was about 30 min. of steady breeze with white caps, followed by long gusts alternating with lulls. The increasing pressure gradient kept the wind blowing into the afternoon, but thermal lift-off due to the sun combined with a short fetch of open water led to the gusts & lulls.

Re: Sunday 2/21

I had a good time today.
The wind was kinda (choose your Lanier wind adjative). It was nice that the air was relatively warm and the sky was beautiful.
Good turnout for a February day, I think there was seven of us.
As for the wind conditions Barrett described, I had to put up the 8.2m.
Occasionally overpowered, occasionally underpowered. I missed using the 4.7 from this past Friday.
But still a fun day.
