Ineos have pulled a 180 from the suckitude they were doing over the New Year. Their transitions were bang on in that race. Luna Rossa had a lead early on but it was one of those races where finding the puffs meant everything.
These boats are fun to watch and there's tactics galore. I'm a fan.
I'd seen that before but well worth watching again. Probably suggests that those who foil in light air could benefit from an adjustable outhaul and its frequent use.
You think it takes a lot of downhaul for your sail? AC75 Cunninghams (equivalent to our downhaul) take from 5-6 tons of pressure to as much as 8. Main sheet loads are even higher. Good Vendee Globe coverage at beginning of video and then Paul Goodison talks about how sailing Moths transferred to sailing AC75s.
