Anybody thinking there will be wind in Vans? It being east and underforecasted, I am wondering if there will be 10-12 knots to foil.

As it heats up, chances diminish being east and all. I think there's too much sunshine.

I've been wrong before though. Scientific studies put me behind cats with keyboards for accuracy

Re: Feb 8

Normally for easterlies I place my bets on going as early as possible and it seems the wind dropped from it's peak of 10-12 mph around 10 to 6 now. So I'm with Webster on this one. I was actually thinking of going early, but didn't work out.

Here is the wind trace and forecasts for the Buford Dam spot (I think Gilmer is about the same). That spot is right on the lake and seems reasonable for easterlies. Three forecasts show the wind picking up this afternoon, one shows it dropping and making a little comeback. None of them make it look like it's worth going, but then I can't go anyway.......

Agree with North-easterlies. They drop and generally the NOAA forecast has them dropping too. What I am wondering is when there is South in the easterlies. I have a very limited data set on the South Easterlies. Have only kited two at Vanns and they held through the day. It is also my favorite direction to kite at Vanns.

From a previous post I remember there was a building blocking east in the Gilmer airport windmeter. What about SouthEast? Is it still dirty wind at the windmeter?

Current wind seems messy:

This is a philosophical discussion from someone desperate for wind.

There does seem to be some tendency for SE winds to pick up as the day goes on. I remember in 2019 we had a lot of SE days and I was annoyed they got going later than I could usually stay. My forecast accuracy, BTW, is as only good as the janitor that does the Iwindsurf forecasts.

Also, I notice soon after my first post it started looking windy outside.....

Typically it blows so rarely on SE that I don't have a good feel at all on how it'll hold up during the day. Other than that 2019 string of days, I could go years without seeing a decent SE day.

I always thought SE is the place East winds go to die. Today, it is all over the wind clock ENE to E to ESE to SSE back to E and now ENE......
