Maning Up - Sat. at Van Pugh

Big WNW wind today. I'd like to go, but need company. Please post if you plan to sail at Van Pugh this afternoon.

Re: Maning Up - Sat. at Van Pugh

I was tempted but our walk around our neighborhood lake and nearby trails convinced me that mtn biking would be a more pleasant choice for activity #2 today.
Much nicer feeling in the trails than around the lake.
As if we didn’t know already, more proof that we can’t all be Barrett’s - power to you even for wanting to go. Enjoy if you do.

Won’t be VP but Rogier sounded pretty sure about going again today

Chris P. arrived first only to blow out his sail. Fortunately he made it back in before Ed & I arrived. Roland & Gene came to watch & cheer us on. I thought the wind dropped & rigged my 7.0m sail. 6.0m would have been a better choice, but there was never a moment I wasn't powered up on a plane. Ed rigged his 6.5m and said he was overpowered much of the time. I never got cold until I came in to change and discovered it was 32ºF on my car thermometer. After putting my gear away and driving off, the temp went up 6ºF as soon as I got away from the Lake.

Photo of Ed launching from Van Pugh before wind picked up to 15-25 mph.

Somebody on a sailboat yesterday said they had a 40kt gust. *shok

Certainly wasn't blowing that hard down here... (nor at Gilmer)

Nice pic.

Thanks for the report. It was really blowing when we arrived, dropped off, then picked back up. Ed & I watched a sailboat twice almost tip over before we went out. Maybe 30mph was the strongest gust when I was sailing. It made for an exciting day.
