Kite trade in deal. Save up to $450 on a new kite.

Q & A:
Q: What if I trade in a torn kite? A: Yes, you still get the discount
Q: What if I send you a 17m kite? A: Doesn't matter, the discount you get is determined by the size of the kite you buy, not what you trade in
Q: What if I send you three kites? A: Sorry, only one discount per new kite purchased
Q: What if I buy a kite already discounted? A: Sorry, this deal only applies to new kites sold at MSRP
Q: Should I buy the new kite first and then send my used kite to you? A: That works. When we get your trade in we will refund you
Q: What if I send you my old kite first? A: That works too. When we get your kite we'll call you to select your new kite
Q: Where do I send my old kite? A: Adventure Kiteboarding, S94W14528 Ryan Drive, Muskego, WI 53150

Not exactly Black Friday but Amazon has spreaders (good for board repairs) at a stupid price - it may just be for prime members: less than a buck fifty delivered. I bought two packs because, you know, I foil and sometimes sh*t happens.

Sailworks is discounting carbon: Masts, booms, foils and closeout sails.

Moses 85-790 on sale: https://www.sailworks.com/black-friday-cyber-monday/moses-vento-f85-freeride-windfoil.html $1649

Flyers are still full price. Sad

Not everyone thinks Black Friday is a good idea.

https://windsurf.star-board.com/black-friday-why-turn-it-blue/

".... we believe that the social and environmental costs of Black Friday FAR outweigh any benefits to our business. Let us show you what we mean…"

"Instead we want to encourage you to repair and reuse items that you already have, consume responsibly and at a fair price, and to go Blue this Friday!"

"Over-consumption is the buying of unnecessary items that we just don’t need. It is not just an issue because it clutters our homes but is one of the biggest factors leading to climate change, environmental degradation and pollution."

Now a cynic would say they just don't want to play the BF game discount their prices. Nope not me. I'm not a cynic....

I think in many cases, your cynicism would be justified - if not to dismiss something like this outright, to at least look at it further to see if it is just marketing.

I saw the windsurf.tv podcast interview with Svein Rassmussen and I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. He spent a lot of time talking about sustainability, board materials, how much CO2 the production of each board causes, their attempts to mitigate their impact, etc. He had some thought provoking things to day. I've seen his point made by others, too. One of the best things the industry can do is to make gear that doesn't end up in the landfill as so little of it is recycleable.*

From a couple of years back: Interview with Svein Rasmussen – Starboard joins Sustainable Surf’s ECOBOARD Project

* I remember seeing a pic a few years back of the discard/reject pile outside a bicycle carbon wheel manufacturer in China. There must have been hundreds of cf rims which are virtually unrecycleable. They just end up in the landfill.

Found the cf pile: https://www.stickybottle.com/latest-news/photos-of-carbon-fibre-bike-dump-reveal-worrying-waste-levels/

While I agree with Starboard’s message I question their sincerity. Maybe because of a year old delaminated board they wouldn’t lift a finger to fix.

And from what I have read, Carbon Fiber can be recycled.

Re: Black Friday 2020 Post the sales

Anybody understand how his wingsurfer only needs one size, 4 meters, while other brands have multiple sizes? That is a good price, and Naish should know what they're doing. 12 Knots is only 13.8 MPH, does it work because Robbie is using it and probably running a really big foil, or is it that on a foil, once it's up, the wing or sail isn't all that important?

At 4m, the Wing-Surfer is just the right size to do it all, providing enough power and speed for light wind cruising on a stand up paddleboard or enough power and lift for a foil board to get up and glide in as little as 12 knots of wind.

I wonder if I could get my windfoil board with my Slingshot Infinty 76 foil going with this 4 meter Wing?

EDIT

Looking around his webpage, his newer designs have different sizes:

The first major change is that the new Wing-Surfer is now available in five sizes: 2.8, 3.6, 4.6, 5.3, and 6.0 meters. The 4.6 remains as the original, one-size-does-all for those that want one wing for most conditions. The expansion of different sizes is a must for those who want to push the limits of this quickly advancing sport, especially in the realm of lighter winds.

Re: Black Friday 2020 Post the sales

Gene,
Yes, you could use this on your windfoil board. It probably would be a ton easier if you had a bigger foil like the 84 or 99 starting out though. You won't be doing it in 12 or anything close to it. Probably closer to 18-20.

I've seen Neil get up on a 5.3 in about 15 with his big 2400 wing.

All that "all you need is a 4" stuff last just a couple of months as other brands brought out bigger wings and it was quickly apparent that it was BS as everyone was using a 5,6 or even 7 (like Roland) for their big wing. I think the 2020 version had 4, 5, 6 and the S25 has a ton of sizes. I'm the owner of a 4 myself. Haven't had the opportunity to get it out yet. I'm thinking my wings will look like 5.3 and 4 eventually as the 6 just dwarfs me at my optimistic 5'7".
