Sun Nov 8

8:45 Vanns live: breezy but no white caps. Feels less than advertised. For me 5.7 might work (largest i brought based on all forecasts); not a 4.7 day.

9am: picking up. Will give 4.7 a try

Give it an hour... Wink If it's overcast like yesterday, no need to rush. Should be breezy most of the day.

Just finished - 2.5 hrs, 20 miles, very tired from a week of foiling and SUP'ing. 4.7 with 1100 wing worked great. Lots of people!

Re: Sun Nov 8

It was a dam good day for Chris V and me. Joined a bunch of bigger sail boats for an excursion to Buford Dam and back. The downhill run was lit and sometimes way too lit. I think I saw Al at Tidwell and didn't say hi. I was too busy trying to get the foil down into the water. A lot of tacking back up wind but the wind decided to take a lunch half hour around Holiday Harbor and Chris made out like a bandit on his Equipe. The wind started to fill in and I was able make it to Vanns in about 10 more tacks (I've done it in 3 before). Super, super fun and glad to join Chris in this adventure.

After a few impressive splash crashes, Scott improved dramatically on his new Slingshot foil gear. The photo sequence is of his first session.

Scott improved more from Saturday afternoon to Sunday afternoon than I did my first month

Retracing my route downwind, I figured about 19 miles and probably a little less coming home. Feeling it now Wacko
Webguy pegged the funmeter on the downwind, passing us suckers like we were standing still. Good

I would still be trying to figure out how to properly put the foil together if not for all the advice, tips and overall help.
Lots of thanks to Langdon, William, Gene, Chris V, Barrett, Richard and Tim Carter too!
Looking forward to being able to hang with you guys in the air!

Good picture.

You beat me to it. Updated and corrected. Barrett had asked for some help and apologies to Dmitri that we didn't update sooner. Here's Dmitri from his day job. (just kidding).

Yup. Dave and I sailed Tidwell. It was pretty awesome seeing the flock of sailboats heading our way. And then I saw a small sail zipping back and forth(Webguy)...and then another(Chris V). I wasn’t sure if you saw me. I figured you had a shuttle arranged to get back to the launch and was surprised (and impressed) to see you both sailing back.

Tidwell was really good this (Monday) morning as well. Had about 40 minutes of constant planing before it started the up and down cycle.

Sorry I didn't stop to say hey. I was a) trying to keep things glued together when we passed. I think that's the time I could hear my wing near the surface - kind of an "Oh, sweet honey iced tea" moment in that much wind and b) I still had that one keel boat in my sights that I didn't catch before the turn by West Bank Park. They were having every bit as much fun as Chris and I were blasting down under the big kite (spinnaker).

But super cool to see you guys down that way. Nothing better than turning a corner on the lake and seeing more windsurfers!
