Shok
I plan on 12ish. Heard John J will be there to. The water is 837', 3' below full pool. COE office said the beach is open. Hope you're not too disappointed.

That is actually a great water level at Galts since you have a lot of shallow areas around the swimming beach. Just be careful with foils. Here is a map which gives an idea of the shallow areas. I think the water level is a little higher now though. Also - note the X. I'm just guessing from memory but there is a marker pole out there which indicates a shallow area. When the water is low, there is an island there. So watch out for that as well.

Wiki map is pretty accurate. Usually launch in the little inset just to the left (west) of the swimming area (just to the right of the spit), sometimes to the right. The icon is right on top of the swimming area. The parking lot should be open - it hasn't closed yet. When it does, you have to park in the boat launch parking just to the south.

Re: Friday Galts

As you enter the park, you will come to the gatehouse. It is probably going to be empty. Just continue straight in until you can see the swimming area. You can launch on either end of the swimming beach (but not from the beach itself.) With the water level the way it is now you will need to walk you gear out a ways until you get deep enough to launch with a foil. Now the west end might be the easiest launch as webguy suggests, but it probably doesn't make much difference. The water level at Galts can change a foot or more a day this time of year and the walk gets longer as the water level drops. Just park where it looks most convenient to launch.

Re: Friday Galts

With a NW wind we park at the end furthest from the entrance. We launch to the left of the main beach between two jetties.

Bill H., Hamdi, Langdon, Clayton, Ed, and Dimitri all showed up at different times of the day. The usual gusty winds Galts is known for were in full display. At times I could of used a 6.5 and others a 9.5 on my Mega Cat. I settled for learning my new to me 7.5.

Nice to see some new faces at Galts! Today was typical Galts conditions on a NW wind.
