Two Wx models are showing some hope for a Thursday session late afternoon.
(I know...Easts usually die early, but not always)
Here is some evening windsporting for all

I have some powerful mtn bike lights, if you want to borrow? ?.
I am seeing dots starting after 9pm.
Less boat traffic after 8pm

Seriously...if it's not a big deal to go windsurfing with 40 degree air and 45 degree water how could we allow the sun going down to be a problem . Its not like the sharks start feeding in Lanier at sundown
It's not the sharks, it's the boats zipping around in the dark. Chris Pyron sometimes has sailed after dark. My experience boating in a lit powerboat in the post sunset dark dissuades me, personally. If you go, you need to be very well lit beyond the simple required marking lights.
For starters - not to mention the multiple instances of collisions during daylight:

I agree on proper lighting for nighttime aquadic excursions. And yes, boats have trouble avoiding me in broad daylight. I see to be a magnet for pontoon boats and center consoles.
I was kinda saying the nighttime sailing in a kidding way .. but to prove a point that us Windsurfers generally do not do what normal people do.
Look away from the NWS and look a Windy for a minute

Waxing crescent moon is up before dark but may not be full enough to be much help with visibility. I’ve sailed at night and felt pretty safe when the moon is full enough and I’m not in the shipping lanes...but head on a swivel for sure.
There is this........
What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.
The dots are with rain so lights/darkness aren't really the issue
You underestimate the coercive power of wind crack for those under its' wicked spell. You must have forgotten while you are in rehabilitation.

Yep, .2 inches of rain /warm lake water now is better than 45 degree water/ blue sky later for what I am practicing.
I do very much suffer from the foiling addiction and the closer I get to my goal the more I want to go
I can almost taste it
Sweet mother of pearl, I've created monsters.
Should have left you both to sailing Mistral Competitions. Not much zip but your family would still remember your name and your bank account wouldn't have been savaged by jackals.
I've sailed quite a bit at night. It's quite unique and awesome. Moonlight is cool, but the relatively dead dark of starlight is also special.
I've never felt in any particular risk. Traffic is minimal to nonexistent. Motorboats have lights. I stay well away and carry a light for signaling purposes which fulfills regulations of which I am aware. Never used it.
Got an hour and a half on the water at Vanns
this evening
No glare on the water
No boat traffic
One 15min light shower, not enough to effect anything.
Foiled with the 8.2m about 90% of the time

Glad you foiled an had a good time. I thought about going, but seeing rain & traffic, got a flu shot instead.

Balz has figured out the rain thing. Wingfoil under a bridge
