Starter Kit Listed on Craigs List

FWIW dept.* The seller seems to think it is a paddleboard/kite surfing set up, but it's 2 windsurf boards. One is a HiFly beginner board, the other a 120 liter Tiga. The Hifly is a heavy but serviceable beginner board, apparently with a complete rig. The HighFly certainly is big enough to paddle, but not really a paddle board. But does that really matter. Not ideal unless the price is really right and one is looking for a bomb proof learning board. He's looking for a trade for a nice trailer (?) or "guy stuff." I'd assume cash money is also guy stuff. I would drive a really hard bargain ~<$250 for everything but only if the sail and rig is very good shape.

*This caught my eye because I had a HiFly board stolen years ago. But this isn't it.

Those are two decent boards. The HiFly would make a very good beginner or light air board or even a wingding trainer with the centerboard (I'm guessing since my experience is zero). The Tiga was from the end of their run when they made some pretty decent sandwich boards. It's a touch narrow compared to more modern boards but still a reasonable 64cm wide so would be a fun first shortboard for someone smaller (6.5 or even 7.5) or 5.5/6.5 board for someone bigger. In Florida or OBX, it would be a lot of fun for not a whole lot of money.

The seller is absolutely clueless to what they have and likely they just stumbled on it rather than buying it for use.

Yes, the screw is out.
Lubed her up, Put a long screw in and tapped from top.
Maybe I should rephrase that... but you know what I mean Good

Chris Are you going to part with the HiFly?
If so that might be a good board for Howard.
I know he was looking for something

We're not here to judge. What a man and consenting board do on their own time is none of our business. Just remember that protection is important. Make sure the fin cover stays on. Biggrin

Definitely trim box. Maybe gently tap with a rubber mallet forward? The little hook on the front of the fin won't let it rock back. There really shouldn't be much to make it stick as about everything in the fin box is plastic unless sand has gunked things up.

Alan- planning to keep the HiFly at the club for teaching friends. It’s a pig. Must weigh 50 lbs. Perfect for 1st day lesson, I reckon. I do want to rehome the Tiga once I can locate a good fin or 2 for it.

Probably a bit on high side, but here's one. There may be others on ebay as well.

In Hamburg. Have you bought from EU via ebay? Does ebay do the $ to Euro exchange?

Cheaper fins come up all the time either on ebay or FB. What size are you looking for? I may havea spare around a 40-42 cm since I bought a 50 to go with my not quite 293 OD. Priced right for good friends - freebie.

Actually answering your questions: Yes (EU, UK, Japan), and yes. Biggrin

Billy Preston (the 5th Beatle) on exchange rates

Yes! 42-ish. The ultimate answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and "what size fin is good with a big sail" ?

Okay then George Martin was the 6th Beatle. I think Billy Preston lent a lot of civility to that rooftop concert near the end. They had to behave because they had important company. BP's keyboards were huge.

Re: Starter Kit Listed on Craigs List

Yeah, Sir George was the unofficial 5th Beatle but Billy P. did get mentioned on a Beatles disk. I guess I said that more because of Lennon wanting him to join the group. Apparently the title of 5th has many contendors: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fifth_Beatle

If that isn't cool enough, he then goes to play with the Stones for several years.

I'm going up to G'ville this week and I'll see what's up there fin-wise.

William, if you spot any longish A-box fins you want to part with let me know.
