Re: Thursday morning

Used the 60 CM fin. Wanted to work on upwind sailing before going with the foil. I've tried with the RF81 and the wing w and w/o foil but wasn't staying upwind adequately. Gong has started to put center fins on its largest wing boards so I decided to put one on my F136. Was able to stay upwind most of the time. So I'll probably try the foil before long. I was hoping to get planing but don't think that's going to happen w/o more wind than yesterday, and probably different technique. Might work at Galts (or MAP) because the water is flatter but would still probably need more wind. Windsportscience continues to advance....

Meanwhile, there is a new windsport which doesn't even need wind. (How long before they put a foil on this thing?)

Ideal for when you want to do both: go sailing and be shark bait.

What problem was this intended to solve? I had to look up the video to make sure it wasn't post early in April.

Your foil mast being longer and wider? Am I missing something?

I think you need to get that new Turtle 110 or maybe Alex's Tillo 140. (Alex I think is still doing free shipping this week.)

It's not that simple. You are moving the CLR back with a big mast, which is part of the problem.* Couldn't stay upwind with my foil in place on the RF81 and long foil. May be just a matter of practice. So I'm practicing. Gong apparently thinks its an issue as well as I mentioned above. Didn't want to do that with my foil board.

*May not be a problem with the really short lower volume boards most wingers seem to use, or with higher winds.

Oh, wait. I missed that. Did you glue one of the SS center fins on? Or, what are you using? Whatever it is, probably less dramatic than my formula board changes. Chop, chop, hack, hack, glue, glue. Biggrin

Far less drastic. We'll see if it is drastic enough. Glued on with marine adhesive which I think a.) will hold and b.) will be removable if necessary. $20 from Ebay. Seems effective enough.

Looking at the second picture I'm thinking maybe I should use a smaller fin on the back to move the CLR up. My SUP does great with 3 little "thrusters" in the back and one larger center fin forward.

Actually, I think the sail is not the way to go. The main idea is to be able to swim faster and safer using the "boat" and swim fins. The little I used swim fins I was amazed at how much faster and easier it was. Boat probably helps a lot too. Most of the ones I've seen don't bother with the sail. Not available in the US from what I can see, though Bic is making one. Seems to be taking off in France.

Meanwhile, here is another windsport. Air-Sofa Kiting from my friend in France.

So, asking for a friend's wife. How easy is it to SUP with a wing?

One thing is certain - if I can do it the bar is really low.

Re: Thursday morning

There are a lot of videos about how to SUPwing. The basics are quite simple and most of the vids show them fine. This is the best one I've seen on how to sail upwind with a wing and SUP. A board with a wide tail is very helpful, as you need to ride near the back of the board.

Lacking a board with a wide tail, how about a rider with a wide tail? The lack of wind this summer has accumulated "muscle" around my waist, um, harness. Shok
