Report from Portland

Was texting our good friend Marek who's now in Portland. He's doing well. Here's a bit of an update.

Quote:
I check out the Windsport webpage more than I should....old habit. Looks like everyone is into foiling now. We've had some amazing days already. 3.0 - 4.0 conditions last Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat. Sophie is getting really good at carve jibes and swell riding. We are glad to have a couple of days rest after that.

Most of the main parks are closed due to the virus, but some roadside access still remains, enough for locals to find our way on the water. We are all hoping that Hatchery and Dougs open up soon.

Marek and Sophie, stay safe and send us some pics so we can get through the summer doldrums!

Thanks for the report. Sounds awesome! Glad you can get to the water despite the closed beaches.

Re: Report from Portland

All gorge parks now open except for Rowena. Big day today at the Hatchery, started mid morning on a 3.8 but two hours later was on Sophie’s 68L board and 2.7 sail. Huge swell and blowing water smoke from the waves.
Water temp warming up but still at a fresh 56F.
Fun day!

Marek

All of those numbers fall outside of our sanity check. Simon had a 2.7 when he was like 8 or 9 yrs old. 56 degree water? Sounds like a summer temp in Kuwait... (Celsius). A little Old Bay and throw in the shrimp. Lol

Okay, we're a little jealous here... Blush
