30-Day Wheelie Challenge

I know there are some mountain bikers on here, so i thought i'd pass this along. Pearl Izumi / Ryan Leech are offering the 30-day Wheelie Challenge course for free

https://blog.pearlizumi.com/30-day-wheelie-challenge-p-b-ryan-leech/

Might be something fun to work on when the winds not blowing.

I ride MTB/BMX, but never been able to wheelie (though i can manual pretty well), so this should be fun while i'm stuck at home

Cheers,

-Clayton

Re: 30-Day Wheelie Challenge

I used to wheelie on a Stingray as a child - that and being able to play the drum rhythm of Wipe Out where the two markers of "cool kid".

I'm mostly a roadie and I was going to say that roadies don't wheelie but I remembered Peter Sagan doing wheelies during road stages of the Tour de France. He's too heavy to compete overall so he rides just for the flatter stages and the big guys just ride fast enough to make the time cut. He would entertain the crowds.

I'd take you up on the challenge but my wrists and collarbone have asked me politely not to. Lol I'll do some wheelies on the foil to make up for it, though.

Your collarbone should only get upset if you're trying to road gap the Tour de France Diablo

(gotta love the music Sorry 2 )

Re: 30-Day Wheelie Challenge

I still have a scar on my arm from riding bikes as a kid. I was wishing a few years ago that I could get a stringray type bike, or maybe just the ("wishbone"??) handle bars. My shoulder would get numb if I rode a racing style bike for very long at all and I'd get a backache from leaning down. I did get a "cowboy" style bike which helped, but I was still only good for about an hour. I thought the high handle bars would solve the problem. Anyway, now I ride a bike about once a year so I forgot about it.

What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.

I have learned the hard way that combining Egg Beater pedals and wheelies can be hazardous to your health.

I thought Egg Beaters didn't have cholesterol?

Signed up. Let's see what comes first - me doing a wheelie or Gene foiling through a jibe. This might be tough as the mtn bike is on ice up at the lake and I just have gravel/road/cross bikes here. Oh well, no excuses, huh?

Dang, too dark right now to practice my wheelies. Ulp. Looks like I might owe Gene dinner at Loretta's when this is over. Shok

Edit: seriously, anyone who does a full flying jibe in the next 30 - dinner on me at Loretta's. One meat serving per customer and get your own damn dessert. I saw how Alan eats. Lol (Vegetarians get a free dessert)

I could play wipeout, but only on a skateboard. Shok

Wheelies– I was a master on my Stingray. A skill that, oddly enough, did not translate to learning to ride a unicycle. THAT took a long time, kind of like foiling for me– slow learner? I think I could still ride a uni today. Once you get it, you got it... "It's like riding a bike". Good

Gotta 'fess up. Since I signed up for this, it's been blowing. A lot. My wheelie skills suck as much as ever but those jibes are starting to come along... Biggrin

We need to nominate Clayton for some kind of award.
