Gov. Brian P. Kemp and Department of Natural Resources Commissioner Mark Williams issued a statement Sunday reminding park goers of the ban on groups of 10 or more and of their intention to enforce the ban.

“Across Georgia, there is a mandatory shelter in place order for medically fragile individuals, and gatherings of more than ten people are banned unless there is at least six feet between each person at all times. This order applies to all 159 counties.

The governor's statement said that while many Georgians are heeding the directive, some are not. The governor said DNR would enforce social distancing at parks and lakes.

“The Department of Natural Resources will enforce the executive order limiting large gatherings with officials patrolling bodies of water and campgrounds. They are monitoring coves where people tend to congregate and, if necessary, using bullhorns to tell people to comply with the order. Officials will approach people in violation of the order and demand compliance for the well-being of our citizens and state. Local officials are also working hard to ensure compliance with local directives, which vary by city and county across our state," the statement reads.

Something to think about. This is from University of Washington study. They have done projections of the COVID19 impact on all 50 states and the nation as a whole.

I'd suggest not driving with a windsurf board on top of your car, being pulled from behind in a trailer.

Strange, the article states that parks will remain open? You kind of have to leave the house to get to a park. With the new state-wide shelter in place order going into effect though, I would be surprised if the parks do indeed remain open.

From what I understand you can still go out for

Food
Work
Exercise (maybe this is why the parks are still open)

Re: Info on Corona Virus

From yesterday's news conference came this, italics mine:

Quote:
Finding out that this virus is now transmitting before people see signs, so what we've been telling people from directives from the CDC for weeks now that if you start feeling bad, stay home... those individuals could've been infecting people before they ever felt bad. But we didn't know that until the last 24 hours. And as Dr. Toomey told me, this is a game changer for us.

The most charitable, benign and neutral thing I can think to say is that our educational system has failed us.

The Governor of Florida also took the "I'm stupid" defense. The health weather map may shows the result of stupidity. Why do suppose coastal areas of FL have all those red dots?

There is some good news though. Whether through S.D. or luck, the "flu like" illness trend is declining. (Blue is good)

Yeah, social distancing is working pretty well on the flu. I remember first seeing those "heat" maps and CA was already showing an improvement. I wish allergies would work the same way.

As I recall the Mayor of NY was saying not too long ago for everyone to go out and enjoy restaurants and nightlife.

Not necessarily working all that well. Fortunately for me, the same things that help allergies help avoid viruses. (Staying at home.) The Unacast Social Distancing Scoreboard uses cell phone data to compute average mobility, non-essential visit and new cases to develop a grade from A to F. Georgia is getting a D overall. Most counties are showing little or no change in their daily life. Fulton is getting a b- best in the state, Cobb and Dekalb a C-. Gwinnett and Forsyth a D. Hall county gets a F. It is amazing what your cell phone knows about you. I'd suggest you guys turn it off when you go to the lake. (Of course, that would be cheating.)

Not surprising. It's like another country when I've been up there - business as usual. Meanwhile, the busy street near where I live, you could lay down in the middle after 7 pm in perfect safety.

from the ajc

Quote:
Q: Can I still go outside to exercise?

A: Yes. There are no limits on exercise, so long as social distancing is employed. You can still visit state parks and play sports outside, including golf, though gatherings of more than 10 people are banned unless there’s at least six feet between each person.

I presume that means we can visit federal parks, too. Meanwhile, the wind continues to socially distance until mid-next week.
