President's Day - SE?

Small chance that we get enough of a SE on President's Day to get on the water. Fitting as that's one of the few directions that works on Lanier at the moment with the high water closing so many parks. I'm optimistic as the endorphins are wearing off from our last session and I need more.

btw, I learned today that it's still technically Washington's Birthday but whatever... Biggrin

Can't make it. There is mattress sale I don't want to miss.

You know that "The Best Prices of the Season" means "The same price we have in every weekly circular". Right? Biggrin

No matter. While you are there, we've been looking for some cookware, towels and men's casual slacks. I'll text you exactly what I'm looking for.

Pic from the current Macy's circular. Seriously. It's still a thing. I had no idea.

NOAA is showing a slight chance of no rain and 10-15 Wednesday. Due to change hourly though.

Just a reminder for those unaware of it, the view from "across the street": https://www.llsc.com/webcam

Alejo, if I can break free, I'm going to try to be there around 2 ish. The wing guys, Neil and Reggie are planning on going, too.

I just arrived at Vanns. Water is filled in with wind but looks like it is topping out at around 8-10mph. I will be here until at least 3:00pm. There’s guys set up fishing all along the grass area which looks like a pain.

Super! Thanks for the report. Usually, fisherman are courteous if you ask them politely. Once, I had to come back through a baptism one time with about 100 people. It had started while I was out on the water.

For 15 minutes, I was a genius. For the next 45, I bobbed around like a cork.

Neil and Reggie winged, Randy came by to chat and play with kites. Not a perfect day but fun to be out.

Re: President's Day - SE?

I was impressed by how little wind your flying in. Took less than my kite.

BTW - there was a sign in front of the park entrance that said "park closed". Since I knew from Barrett's post it didn't apply to us, I went ahead and went in. Oddly, there were some other non-Windsporters there, apparently unaware that they weren't eligible for the Windsport exemption. I thought about asking them to leave, but decided to let it go this time.

At Vann"s or elsewhere? Vann's and Tidwell still aren't listed on the Facebook post of doom.

I always carry with me my official "I'm a windsporter" membership card. It gets me discounts on hotels, cruises and senior coffees at McDonalds. At least I think that's what it does. I don't have my glasses in the van. All I can make out on it is "Blockbuster..." Lol

Re: President's Day - SE?

It was at Vann's. Was not listed on the web page as closed yesterday morning. Didn't see one at Tidwell or MAP. I don't think the water will have to rise much more before all parks are "closed" to the non-windsport public.....
