Was toying with the idea, since I'm going through mild withdrawal, of going up and testing a light air sail on the foil today. I looked at the 1 pm reading for Gilmer here on the website and saw 32 degrees and fog - I'm seeing blue sky here in Atlanta. Thought it was a mistake and went to the NWS page.
Meanwhile: 44 at PDK (Chamblee) and 57 at LaGrange (West Point Lake)
I wonder how my bikes are doing...

Yesterday they were reporting freezing fog at G-ville. It's a very rare (and beautiful) weather phenomenon. Did anyone got a picture? I've only seen it once - driving from Cheyenne WY to Denver around 5 am......Shame I didn't really get to enjoy it then, as I was more concerned about staying on the road.

NOAA page showing up to 50 at VP. Too light for what I have and level I think, so I am heading to rowing but probably worth a try for you? Biking is always an option of course...
Weird because NWS showing it's all the way up to 33. I'm not thinking it's going to jump 20 degrees this afternoon. Even if it does, I don't think the wind will be sticking the water. I could be wrong but the potential pay off is too low. Enjoy the rowing.
Yeah, Randy. I wanted to see the freezing fog this morning as that sounded interesting from afar. It's not something I'm familiar with. Sounds like a pilot's nightmare scenario, though.
G'ville NWS and Windy.com reported temps right now.
Beautiful day on the river, a bunch of boats out already and mine is ready to go as well. Sunny and a little breezy, so likely a good afternoon to be out for any of those activities.
Dang that shell is narrow. I’d probably just go jump in the river and end up with the same result if I tried to paddle that.
Will you have your replacement foil by Thursday?
Alan
Yeah, I should have the foil in my possession but thinking of not taking it out of the box. Brit said he will let me upgrade to the Phantasm; so will wait for that i think. Might be the most sensible & fiscally sound AND unsensible & fiscally unsound decision at the same time. ?
Phantasm !?!
Can I sell a kidney on ebay? Asking for a friend
I was texting with Britt this week. ( sourcing parts for the Slingorue)
He did not mention anything about the Phantasm release.
The lady I talked to at slingshot said the phantasm is scheduled to hit the market in the spring and will be priced comparable to other carbon foils.
Looks like a very nice system, I didn’t have the patients to wait for it.
I was considering getting a shorter Aluminum Moses mast/ fuselage or a Slingshot to use in shallower water and for a backup. Let me know if the trade in doesn’t work out.
Alan
Sell plasma, kidneys don’t grow back.
Alan
Well, with that attitude, they won't.
Pssst, Langdon. You only need one. You'll get a stay at a fancy hotel (full mini-bar privileges!), a nice ice bath and a new carbon foil. Win, win, win!

If I go with the slingshot I’ll want a 24” mast, might be a good option for my free ride board.
Curious
Does Slingshot offer a stainless bolt kit for their foils.
Alan
SS told me they don't offer stainless. They apparently are concerned it can corrode (more of a concern in salt water) and that they tend to loosen more.
Hey Langdon, enjoy both your kidneys a while longer anyways...Apparently Phantasm is 'significantly delayed' due to Corona related manufacturing issues in China (many workers who traveled to home towns for Chinese new year can't return to work due to travel restrictions). No idea whether i will wait or not but that's another story ... once again, in 'paralysis by analysis' mode, weighing pros and cons.
Should we get these Russian paratroop instructors to help you make a decision? I can't make out what the guy is saying as he's pushed out the door but I think it's basically, "You won't be able to really tell the difference for another year. Just get a foil and have fuuuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnnn......."

Reminds me of one time I went to a glider club somewhere (small airport in Monroe??) for a ride. The pilot gave me a big bag and said put this on. I asked what it was and he said it's your parachute. So I did. The flight went fine, but I realized after it was over, I had no idea of how to open the parachute if I needed to. Fortunately I didn't.
