Langdon and I are planning on a Hartwell field trip - forecast high is a human 50 with 11-18 mph wind. We're going to make a final decision in the morning. West Point looks cooler than Gainesville (43 vs 44). G'ville looks the windiest 15-25.

planning to sail van pugh mid day.
Looks like Sunday will be sunny, making the low 40's feel a lot warmer on the water. I also plan to sail Van Pugh mid-day. Gene, are you in?

Nah I’m out.
Up through my 30’s I didn’t mind going when it was in the 30’s outside. I still remember the frozen lines.
In my 40’s ... 40’s and above.
Now that I’m in my 50’s ...
See the pattern here.

Staying home to recoup from chest crud. Enjoy the sun everyone
Yep, good day ! Wind and Flat water
William was having great success with his jibes

Edit: this is Langdon before hitting the wind line. We had WSW wind so the launch was a bit shadowed - remind you of someplace else? Anyway, past the wind line, the wind was pretty consistent. We had some gusts in the low 20s but mostly just 10-20 sweetness. Langdon rigged his 5.7 and I had my 5.4. Starting to consistently hit my jibes even in lighter air which means the merry-go-round stops less often.
Big wind at Van Pugh. Hamdi was on a foil board with small sail when we arrived & came in as wind picked up. Ed seemed just right with 5.5m, Gene 6.0m, but some what overpowered, Chris on a plane with 4.9m. I was just right with 7.0m for about 15 minutes, then hung on for a wild ride with my 110L FSW board. 43F dropping to 40F.

A good strong day. I could have sailed 4.9 (green), but in fact was wound out on my 5.8 (blue).
fyi, the closing dates for Long Point according to the Hart Co Rec Dept.
Here are three photos from Sunday's session.
Gene with his new Toyota truck pulling his old familiar windsurfing trailer.
Ed fully powered on his 5.5m Ezzy sail.
Beware the wind shadow! Crash into 49ºF water on a 40ºF day.
