Saturday is starting to look like a classic winter blow fest (20-30 by afternoon) and Sunday much more mellow.
Anybody making plans? Sunday actually fits better some things I'm working on at the moment. Saturday is in splashy board territory with something suitably small.

I might go play in the kiddie pool at OF.
Or if we can find the gatekeeper, Juliette
Still waiting to hear
Edit
Meeting HamdiD at OF Saturday ~9:30am.
Did you try Apt 2206? btw, she doesn't go by Juliette anymore. I think it's Zuul or something like that.

Back to our other conversation, I'm thinking some guys really don't need a wetsuit, or a life jacket either.

I wish i could go Sun but unfortunately have a 3pm flight.
I would like to go Sat. Some of the forecasts I am looking at showing 15 to low 20s in the am, with temps around 53, ~30% chance of rain. Anyone up for early Sat am, assuming not raining hard? I would be open to as early as 8-8:30am. VP or OF; either works.
I will be at OF this morning, likely 8:30-9am range. Last I communicated with him, Langdon was intending to be there around 9:30. Weather and wind looking good for this morning; higher winds/gusts and actually lower temps in the afternoon. I will likely need to leave around noon.
trying to hook up again with you guys soon, but 20-30mph, is too much for me until I can get up on the foil and loose all that resistance. Sunday is suppose to be semi cold but winds look more moderate for me. Might head to VP and try the right spot this time, LOL. No more Bozo Island!!

Wise call. I think tomorrow will be a lot gentler and maybe a touch warmer. Hope to see you then.
Live report from OF
Windy
Fairly Steady with some capping
Off to lower Old Fed (Van Pugh) in a bit. Hope OF rocks and say hello to Alex, Rogier, David and whoever else kites. Take some pics.
Old Fed be rockin
You want swell ? We got that too
Plenty of parking
15-25 this afternoon at Van Pugh until it went a solid 20-30. Thrilling is an understatement - I was on a 4.7 and foil. It let off for a couple of minutes and I scampered home for a sandwich. While I was in the car, my mind said "eff it" and called it a day. Al and Chris P sailed 5.3 and 4.5 respectively and had a great time. Lots of holes for the splashy crowd. I was able to scoot through most of them but got my comeuppance when it cranked up to 11.
Cool chasing the Melgeses (is that right?) down the channel. They are about 30 ft keelboats with 4 crew and were surfing under spinnakers. Saw at least one get knocked down in a gust. Fortunately, they all seemed back at the LLSC before it went ballistic.
Gene came by to say hello. He, Hamdi and Langdon foiled at Old Fed. Alex, Rogier, younger Dave and Mike kited. Langdon will be posting kite pics soon.
Langdon
Fun day, exhausting day!
I wiped out spectacularly many times. My sinuses have been rinsed.
HamdiD, Gene and I foiled most time.
When the wind really got strong Gene changed to his Tabou and then tore across the water causing sonic booms to be heard in Flowery Branch. ( mild exaggeration)
We were joined by 4 kiters who witnessed Gene "part the waters" like Moses.
Roiger and the gang looked like they were having a great time.
Hope to foil again tomorrow and hope the Tiger Balm works tonight

I sailed on Catalina 27 at OF. First time on sailboat. A friend of mine signed up for a program at Sunrise Cove and invited me to try sailing. He just got certified and sailed couple of times before ?. It was challenging to sail at such a strong wind without any experienced sailor. In the beginning we were sailing only with the main sail (I don’t know if this is the right name), but it was pretty boring and I insisted to use front sail and things got more interesting, especially in the 28mph gusts. At one point I was ready to capsize. It was weird to look at windsurfers from the water. I called Hamdi, but I don’t think he recognized me.

It's all windsport, man! Cool experience. You are the classic windsurfer: "This thing is only going 7? Let's put up some more sail!"
I'm going for another round today at Van Pugh. I want to watch Langdon work on his tacks.
Sunday - I went late in the day. It was good. Nobody called my name. There was an a$$hat in a power boat, though. Worked on tacks and jibes like Langdon wanted me to.
I sailed my shortboard (~80 cm or so) yesterday.

HamdiD
wow, Randy, I was almost impressed thinking that you used Iggy Pop as a soundtrack.
Seriously, looks like you had a fun day and, unlike me, didn't have to ponder how you were going to foil the 3/4 mile back to Van Pugh insanely overpowered.
That does sound uncannily like the second tune I used until the vocals start at least.
