Re: Naish Wingsurfer

There needs to be an international convention of representatives of brands that are selling these wing to come up with a name for the sport. Everyone knows what baseball, football, hockey, basketball, futbol, windsurfing, surfing and kitesurfing are. No one can figure what this sport is because everyone calls it a different name. Without a name this sport will never survive. It's basic Branding 101......

Here's my proposal - Wingsport......

Not saying you're wrong but I'd wager wingboard or wingsurf makes it to the front. Probably both.I still can't figure out whether it's kiteboarding or kitesurfing.

You may be right, but Wingsport encompasses land as well....(though that is probably not going to be a big part of it.).

A lot of comment in regards to the crossover from sup and kite.

Au contraire "the apocaplse is half full" AJ. Rather it is the Dawning of the Age of Wingfoiling, when kitesurfers and windsurfers will throw down their kites and sails and reunite with their wings..... It will be kind of like this......

When I see them all on a mountain top singing "I'd like to teach the world to foil, in perfect harmony", I'll believe you. Biggrin

Meanwhile, is this just becoming kiting without strings?

Re: Naish Wingsurfer

Or is it windfoiling w/o masts and booms? This is sort like the right or left twix debate.

I thought the iWing already claimed that spot? Biggrin

Nice vid with a most annoyingly repetitive soundtrack - you've been warned.

A wing foil session filmed by drone at Kuau early November 2019. The wind was already marginal at the start and then quickly became too light to restart, so staying up on the foil was key. Once you drop, you swim...

I'm using a 5'2" with 41l here and a 1250cm foil and 4m wing. Not really the easiest to get out and up in light winds, so i need a gust to get up. With a bigger board, larger foil and 5m Wing i'm going in less than 10knots i think. Here maybe 15 at the start, then the wind dropped.

Benjamin Tillier in New Caledonia. I'm starting to think one of these things with a 60cm mast foil at OBX would be a hoot. Oh heavens, what's happened to me...

I've got a 34 cm mast.* OBX calls.......

*In addition to 60 something and 90 ish, I think. (I'm not even sure how they measure masts though.)

There is a Wasp invasion - kind of like killer bees. They are now more of them and they are getting bigger too.

Well, off to Trader Joes to pick up mine assuming we don't have any in the pantry. What size do you think that is? Medium? Biggrin

Of course, doesn't answer the question of where I can find a boat to follow me in 3 ft seas and 25 kts of wind. But that's just details.

(Pretty funny, Randy. I bet you could sew a better bag. Biggrin )

Where was foiling when I was inventing garbagebag sailing? Too bad I donated all of my garbage bag sail to the museum of failed ideas....

Gaastra has now entered the market. It seems to me they are late to the party. Seems like they are the first pure windsurfing brand to make (or is brand) a wing.
