Re: Sun dec 1st

In the extremely unlikely event anyone was considering going to Galts, chances are the beach park is now closed until March 1. For the last several years now, the COE has closed it from Dec 1 to Mar 1. This is the time of year they really drain Toona. I coudln't find any more info online though. In the past, I have been kicked of the beach and lower park but it depends on how vigilant the volunteers are in watching the place.

However, you can still launch as always from the boat ramp, though it is not a very good option for easterlies. For W or NW the launch is acceptable (but remember it is Galts.....after all.)

I plan on heading to Van Pugh mid-day after lunch.

VeePee, too. Latest forecast is for relatively moderate temps. I've got to remember where I put the short boards, though.

Well, it was "something else". I'll let someone else summarize.

Shred Dog is still "the Man". Thanks, big guy.

Re: Sun dec 1st

We had had a great turnout with 60/58ºF air/water temp. and 20 -30 mph WSW wind. The wind became more SW as the day went on, until there was a big, gusty wind shadow extending far from shore.

We had two windsurfers join us from outside the Atlanta area, one from Germany, and the other from Chicago. The gentleman from Germany was recovering from a bad fall unrelated to windsurfing. He was reportedly hit by a strong gust and catapulted near shore, hitting the water hard. We got the upper half of his wetsuit off, fashioned a sling for his injured arm & covered him in towels. Scott drove him to the hospital with the heater cranked on where his wife met him. They then drove back to the Lake to pick up Scott's car. The initial word is that it looks like he broke his upper arm.

The photo is of 1/2 the windsurfing group during the fun half of the day.

Hello to the group. Thanks so much to all of you who helped me on Sunday afternoon at VP park after breaking my humerus through a catapult. Still trying to figure out why I hit my material and not the water...harness lines too short? I pretty much lost all the details after the crash and therefore not even able to remember all the nice folks who helped me out of my neo, wrapped up my material, drove me to ER (Scott?). I would be happy if you could send me a private message. The season has come to a premature end, but at least I had the pleasure to test the waters among you guys and I am looking forward seeing you again next year when I am back in shape.

Cheers,
Kai
