Pondering WP run tomorrow

(West Point) Looks like a barely foilable SW but warm. Anybody interested in taking a chance?

Be careful on WestPoint, I was down there Mountain Biking today and the lake is way down.
I scrubbed some rocks at Old Federal Wednesday too. Stay a good 50 to 75’ away from the south tip of the island right off the launch.

I intend to be at VP on Sun, possibly mid-morning (ish).

I am afraid tomorrow would be a bust for my level / equipment (more the former than the latter) and WP is a hike for me - not a great combination of conditions and time investment. If the forecast looks a little better, I might try VT?

Score! 70 degrees. Blue sky. Foiling about 2/3s of the time. Yahoo

Edit: a great place to work on those foil jibes. The fetch isn't too long, there's almost no boat traffic and the shore slope absorbs rather than reflects any chop. I think I did at least a couple with no tippy taps.

I assume you managed to avoid the nasty rocks and wicked characters. Or is it Old Fed that has the foil smashing rocks? Or both?

Not that far down. It has a gentle slope so it's only down a few feet but the beach gets big faster than Lanier. Likewise, you have to make sure you get off the foil sooner. On the other hand, the gentle slope means a bit of a margin of error. I think it was about 20 ft from the grass to the water. Thanks for the heads up.

Good to hear. You launched at the day park?

Yep. Drove straight in and parked in the "curve" facing out. There's a little bit of a point there now with the water down. I launched from the N. side just right of where the pic above is (like 30-40 ft.) . Looked clear all the way across. Not sure about the S. side as there is a reef marker just off the point that's in the pic.

Wind started from the west, onshore, but shifted SW/S over the dam. Turns out I could have parked either side. Just walk out chest deep and you should be good. I stayed away from anything that looked like a reef marker.

Edit: Added pic from Google Maps which has the water down a bit so you can see the bottom better. Arrrow is where I launched. Good thing I went away from the point...
Edit edit: Bing has the water down even more...
