Too cold for me on Lanier if the forecast stays the same.
If it was a weekend I would join you on Juliette or WP

Two weeks ago I'm wearing a shortie. Now I have to wear a dry suit?

Maybe TODAY, Monday, afternoon, not as much wind but a lot warmer. If it happens, I'll head to Old Fed, TODAY.

Still a maybe for Tuesday.

Gene.

At 42F, I don't want to sail alone, but if Gene mans up, I'm likely to head to Van Pugh Tuesday afternoon. At least the water's still warm.

Today was warm and true to forecast. Foiled a solid hour and then it shut down. Just turned off. Being SW, when it happened, I wasn't anywhere near shore.
Amazing up until then. 8-14

Veep (Van Pugh). Was going to the lake house but made a detour just in case. Worth it. First time on the water in over two weeks. Too long, my friend. Too long. It was a marginal webguy type of day. Not sure most people would have dug it.

Re: Next available flight

Interesting. To me the forecasts today looked pretty weak. Nothing above 8 mph on the "Superforecast"* (Windfinder) - usually the most optimistic. As they say, it has predicted 9 of the last 5 windy days. True - it showed gusts to 16, but I tend to discount those if the base isn't at least 10. 6-16 or even 8-16 don't seem credible to me most of the time, particularly if they are showing it from the west, or worse (wsw, sw, or worse). Now if it is from the east, different story. Then I'm inclined to believe it.

*GFS I think.

Nope
I need at least 11 7/8 mph to dig it.

Rhett called from Van Pugh to say that he's rigging a 5.2m sail, it's really windy, and the sky is starting to clear. Chris & I plan to arrive about 1:30PM.

It certainly became winter in a hurry.

Re: Next available flight

Rhett was coming off the water with a 5.2m sail when I arrived, so I rigged the same. Chris P. arrived and rigged a 4.9m. Unfortunately I checked the car thermometer before heading out, and discovered why my hands were getting numb. It was 35º freaking degrees. Oh well, once rigged and in a wetsuit it's hard not to sail, so I did a trial run. The wind was cranking and the water a relatively warm 60F, so why not keep going. Gene measured the wind and decided - too windy and cold, so he headed home. Dave D. stopped by to check conditions, but soon drove off with his heater cranked to max. Other than the cold, conditions were perfect - wind all the way into the cove, and so steady I only came off a plane in one jibe. Also big ramps for jumping and I beat the traffic heading home.

Photo: Quick iPhone photo as Chris headed out with 4.9m sail, while I came in to warm my hands.

Kind if like "Well aside from that Mrs. Lincoln, wasn't it a great play."

Randy, I like your humor, but we survived and Lincoln didn't.

Meanwhile,

Today at the lake. I used to windfoil there, but I sucked so got a kite.
