Re: Who’s going November 2nd?

Interesting situation. Yesterday NWS was saying "5-10 with gusts to 15". Last night they changed it to calm to 5 mph. Now this morning it is back to 5-10 gust to 15. All along the hourly model was showed some dots in the afternoon, kind of late. To add to the confusion, the Go For it Stupid ("GFS") model on Windfinder and whatever Iwindsurf is using are showing (as has been often been the case lately) a stronger winds for KRYY than KGVL suggesting Toona would be better than Lake Lamer (defying conventional wisdumb, as well as years of experience.).

All this is to say "I don't know" what I'm going to do or where I am going to go. I think I will decide as events unfold. Meanwhile, KRYY (or is it Cry?) and KGVL are both coming in at CALM. Bad

I really want to go, being that work travel these days prevent any weekday activity for me. I was thinking VP but if anyone suggests elsewhere looking better, let me know. Similarly, if there's strong indication/knowledge that it'll be waste of a drive, please post - God knows I had many such wasteful drives (and all the load-,unload of the car) based on wishful thinking.

Considering that the patient is often dead around here and at best barely moving on his feet, 'on life support' -relatively speaking- not all too bad.

LLSC web cam as of 1130. A faint glimmer of hope in the distance. KRYY is reporting NW 9 now. (No proof that it is 9 at the Lake A though.)

Almost live update: Now G-ville is reporting up to 10, while CRY is now showing a drop to calm.....Watching this unfold is almost as fascinating as windfoiling...... Crazy

Gene and Pat Park are planning on going to Old Fed. I may go there also. Just FYI.

Never been there, can try. Is it obvious where you launch, in case nobody there when I get there?

Good thing I arrived before the wind did and rigged a 6.9. I did discover way to deal with that. It's a new way to windfoil I call finning.

I tried a 50cm fin and 7.3 on my JP foil board once. It popped right up on a plane but it just never felt balanced.

Re: Who’s going November 2nd?

Yeah - the setup was all wrong. I needed to move the mast forward, probably move the footstraps (at least the back ones) forward as well. Whenever I tried to use the back footstraps the tail sunk. So I didn't use them. So it is not as simple as just popping on a fin. But I could easily do w/o the footstraps for foiling, and just quickly install them and move the mast foot forward for finning. It did seem to make for an easier ride when I felt overpowered on the foil. (I had already gone from my big wing to a smaller one and didn't feel like rigging another sail.) I think it would work ok as a finning board, but ordinarily I wouldn't want to use it for that, but it does provide an alternative that might be useful sometimes.

Hey Randy, What type of mount did you use for this shot?
