Slingshot has been a kitesurfing outfit for quite a while. I don't think they have ever made sails, so it may be a skill set they don't have yet. They might want to partner with a stand alone sail company like Sailworks that doesn't compete on foils, boards and that sort of thing. They could hire someone to develop sails but then they have to set up relationship with a shop to produce the sails, which is complicated to. Of course, they got into foils from scratch but so did everyone else so it wasn't a disadvantage. I think Naish lost their top sail design guy so he might be around.

This really should have it's own post but I think I'm wearing out my welcome on foiling content. Wave foiling on a day when everyone else would be sitting on the beach.
Only an idiot would do something like this. Long winded and confusing, but this guy discovered if you mount the foil rear stabilizer upside side it turns your foiling board into a planing board. Who knew?

I did the same thing, but with a Manta 3in1 foil when I first started foiling that I got on Ebay because I was too cheap to buy slingshot and I was forbidden to buy a Pink NP foil. I had the rear stabilizer facing the wrong direction and made it impossible to foil. Our foil GodOne of our experienced fools foilers couldn't get it to go either. What confused me was the MANTA logo on on the rear stab. Stupid fools.. Why not "This side down" in big letters instead of a logo that will only visible to fish. The front wing also has a logo, which can only face up. So I assumed the same was true of the rear stab. It turns out the logo should be facing down opposite the logo on the wing. Once I fixed that, I took right off on my next session and went onto foiling glory. The rest is history. Now that I am expert I laugh at my stupidity.

I think the telephoto lens probably compressed things so they weren't too close but SailGP has been sailing in Marseilles in the last few days. If there's two things the French love it's fast sailboats and windfoils.
Yeah, I saw that and thought - wow, some people are going to be seriously pissed. You'd think for $2400, you'd get a decent sandwich board with some proper re-enforcement. Some of that wood or black stuff, maybe.
I guess I made a mistake chucking out all those old Maui Magic boom bras that I somehow had collected from used gear over the years. They will be in high demand by 280 owners.
Wait, you don't think all those no-nose Slingshots (105, etc) are just recycled Flyer 280s, do you? The Wizard 103 aka Flyer Soylent Green

In other news, rookie pilot finds plane won't take off with full down elevator. Film at 11. (Yeah, that rambled a bit.)
Hopefully, they won't mind an interloper. Well, I used to work in the PNW, and I've been to the Gorge once (but didn't sail.)

You dragged my sorry butt - "One of our experienced foilers" - into that thread, too?

The F4 guys show how it's done in SF (Chris and Al are principals at F4)

Edit: The start. Note how the front runners bear off and start pumping before the gun. Kinda nice to broadcast the countdown over a loudspeaker. Just sayin' Chris.

Edit edit: SF can be hard on a foil board. My Tillo cringed at these pics https://twitter.com/usa4/status/1174797910275264513

Photoshop? Not that hard to make something phony.

Not sure I understand. Here's the original for the FB Avoidant. The edit was the text only.If I misunderstood your comment, let me know.
Sorry -wasn't you I was questioning. I was wondering if the board was a photoshop creation by the original poster. Just cynical, you know.

Photoshopped? I can't imagine.

People who don't foil: Wow, that looks pretty high - impressive
People that do: He ded
Here is a very interesting discussion regarding the Slingshot Flyer 280 which we have discussed here quite a bit. Must reading before buying one.
