Thursday - Dots, No Dots

Edit - I should have posted the images instead of the links, but not sure how to do that and was in a hurry. But the top link is booked marked on my computer (Flowery Branch), and the second link is per our webpage (Gainesville). They ususally are the same, but when I posted, the Flowery Branch had Dots and Gainesville had NO DOTS.

Now they both have DOTS and I hope to sail today, Thursday at Van Pugh or Old Fed.

Flowery Branch - DOTS

It's Good Van Pugh is in Flowery Branch.

I can go tomorrow if it blows.

Hoping to sail local but the Van has enough gas to travel beyond Lanier if necessary.

Re: Thursday - Dots, No Dots

This morning the Forecast is looking much better for N -NW wind in the afternoon at L. Lanier, only 5mph more at Clark Hill, so I plan on sailing at Van Pugh.

1:30 Galts. Going out on 8.5 with wingless windsurfer. Appears to be picking up.

Nice day at Galts. Lit up in the gusts which were frequent and steady. Randy came by and foiled.

I had fun today, it was nice not having to do a lot of pumping to get up on the foil.

VP report. Chris P, Barrett, Rhett, Ed, Langdon, Jim, Gene, Hamdi, Mauricio, Chris V. Final Score: Team Foil 6 Team Fin 5. Started with barely enough wind and ended up with 15 to low 20s.Hamdi got his first flight today. Yay!

I finally got a full session in on the GPS logging app Randy told us about. Here's the first half of the day for yucks. Total on both sessions was about 2.5 hours (includes walking to the water, talking, etc). 28+ miles sailed and about 20.15 mph top speed.

Thanks to Barrett for the most excellent photos.

Thanks for posting that picture Bill - looks like I was preparing to slap down on the water from stalling the wing. Good day, I think had my best flights ever, but not as many as I hoped for due to a very long (30 min) lull. Max foiling speed 20.27 per my phone app. Sailed my old 6.0.

BTW William - I think the phone app map is color coded so you can see where you were planing or flogging. My guess is white is slow, blue is faster, green is fastest. The little yellow marker is your max speed location.

Randy, that pic is from a screen shot from a video. Not sure how to upload it.

Easiest way would be youtube or instagram. If you could email it to me then I could upload it.

Can't that guy just sail in the hurricane like Barrett and Alain or maybe this guy.

Funny video, loved the Mom's "you're crazy response". This caused me to reflect on sailing Hurricane Mathew with Alain. What an epic adventure - so glad we had the experience and survived without injury!!! Don't want to go through another hurricane, let alone windsurf in such intense conditions.

I was trying to find your video to post it, but couldn't but found the one above. Post yours again - it was really great.
