I brought my van in for routine service. If it's ready this afternoon, I'll head to Van Pugh.

Re: Friday 9/6

Foiling (mostly flogging) yesterday was sub perfect. I did get some flights in at Old Fed from 3-430. Had many "issues" along the way, including not being able to find my Allen Wrench to install my foil, and several other small things too annoying to mention. Did seem to pick up towards the end of the day when I had to leave. Instead of my usual #mefoiltoo videos, I'm posting a mini-documentary on Lake Lanier water quality. If you've ever wondered what your feet see or your sail sees while uphauling take a look. It does beg the question why is it green. (I'm looking at you Mr. Canadian Goose).

I got there as the wind was dying.
Still got in 6 + flights.
I plan on foiling on Chatuge by the dam in an hour or so

Re: Friday 9/6

I had one of my best summer days at Van Pugh. The wind came right into the cove, so I could step on my board and sail off from the windsurfing ramp. From 3:30 - 5:00PM the wind was amazingly steady at around 20mph. I sailed my 122L RRD board with 8.5m sail and made one planing jibe after another. There was almost no boat traffic.

As Randy pointed out the water has turned light green. This is not a good sign. It's green because tiny algae are growing in it, fed by nutrient enrichment from sewage discharges, and increased development in the Lake's watershed. Having water this warm also stimulates algae growth.

So the culprit is not the annoying turkeys, but rather.....us humans.....I guess it does make sense. They leave their "sewage" in the grass where we are rigging.
