SS SlingWing on an SS windsurfing board, Levitator 150, with I76 foil. Slender Fred Hope does it pretty easily. Average size Sam Light struggled a bit.

Of course this had to happen. A race. Some old skool windsurfing names involved.

It looked hella windy by ATL standards. Looks like fun but in the conditions where we have that much wind - the water temps might be a deterrent. That little grom is going to be a pro someday if he wishes.

Must be really easy if Robbie, Alex, Sky and other world class pros can do it at Kanaha, in 20+kt winds.....

Maybe I should try this. If only I was 10 years old again.

Pretty good video. Looks like he's using a Dialer like Jim and Gene have. Good sense of humor.

Again, where he's doing it - hella windy.

This guy shows why you may not need a harness. Also "waterstarts" a sinker foilboard. Shok

Cammar of Maui surf report films and narrates. Waterstarts on small boards look like total hell (and these are skinny guys) but the ability to ride small waves on an endless loop looks killer. With the right sized gear, you could actually have a blast on those mushy Florida waves.

Re: Naish Wingsurfer

Some guys don't even need a wing - just a foil and 2.5 foot board.

Randy, that was pretty awesome.

Meanwhile, the Horue crew are tearing it up with Duotone wings.

This is the same factory I got the sail from. I'm thinking order 50 of them, black with skull and crossbones carrying the "Air Piracy Designs" logo.....(Not like any of the other brands are original either....)

BTW - Cabrina and Manta now have wings as well.

You wouldn't download a windwing would you?

Cabrinha is NP group. They have to keep up with the Jones (Duotone) and come out with something.

I don't speak French, but I think this video captures the challenges one might encounter of learning to wing foil. (Or the F-One wing just sucks.)

Re: Naish Wingsurfer

Spoiler alert: He doesn't even stand on it until 8 minutes in. Shok You're right. Either that wing sucks @ss or this sport is a whole lot harder than we've been shown. (I think some of both is true). That was painful to watch - poor guy. (Chatty fellow though, isn't he?)

Edit: after looking at some of the other video thumbnails, the F-One wing seems small and doesn't have structure. I think it's more of a "me, too" judging by the just 3 hand straps along the keel.

Re: Naish Wingsurfer

Manta now has a wing, which looks almost the same as the Ozone Wasp and products from Gong, apparently a surf/kite brand in France. They all look quite a bit like Naish, but not quite as round.

Article about first try for an experienced windsurf/kitesurf/kitefoil guy. Seemed to find it quite challenging but despite it all seems stoked in the end.

Re: Naish Wingsurfer

Reading his description makes me wonder if it's really going to be the cat's pajamas over windfoiling. The gear is absolutely simpler but having to hold your arms up, the physical nature etc for a sensation very similar to what it sounds we are doing. His wind description also sounds like what we've been discussing - it's going to take 18-20 at least. As well, for us height-challenged, dragging the wing sounds more likely rather than less.

Let's see where this goes. Is it the gateway drug for SUPers? I'm still thinking that able wind and kitefoilers will just drag out their gear and go faster with less work (other than rigging). Naish seems to orient this towards that part of the spectrum from the writer's point of view.
