GFS is starting to look interesting midweek. The Euro is more pessimistic except for Thur.
Now, if I could only remember which side of the board to stand on...
Edit: Windmapper is basically the GFS output or view both on Windy.com and some of the other sites. NWS seems to use some combination plus whoever seems to be in the office at the moment. Dots sited for Wed and Thursday on NWS. Both lake Lamier and Toona coming up 5-15. Remains to be seen if this holds, or just a new janitor has been hired and it's his first chance to do a wind forecast.

iirc, Footstrap thingies go up and the long winged thing goes down
Got it. I think my trouble was I remember so many times that it was the other way. At least the foil was easy to grab from my swimming position.
It's exciting to see a hint of wind in the forecast. I plan to sail tomorrow (Wed.) if it picks up in the afternoon.

Dang, dem dots done disappeared?
Thursday look promising, no?
Now they are back both wed and thur. Does it really matter? We're going to go out either way. Now that I know which side of the board faces up/down, I'm good to go!
btw, I guarantee it will blow. I've gotten the 9.4 out of mothballs. If the water looks semi- flat, I'm rigging that sucker.
I hope to be escape work at 4.
Launch?
The forecast is too west to contemplate dragging my gear across the yellow rope and dealing with wind shadows. But that's me. (A vote for VP)
Is this a democracy? I thought it was anarchy,,,,

I vote for Van Pugh

See y'all at VP.
More chaotic than anarchistic (a herd of cats looks like a military parade comparatively) but maybe this could be the new club logo? Excuse me while I dig out my "Never Mind the Bollocks" vinyl and give it a spin

Van Pugh - Gene, Chris (new toy!), Barrett and me. Langdon came for the late shift. Every one seemed to have a good time although the wind never really filled in.
After a quick run to West Marine to replace (foil) mast screws left in the family car, rigged the summer experiment, my old NP V8 9.4. Initial impression was that it was heavy as hell and a total waste of time. Worse is that it felt absolutely unpumpable. A few 8-10 mph puffs and I was up. Figured out the pumping thing, too. Cool to be ripping across the water in 7 or 8. I really can't remember a white cap all day. It was hard but it paid off.
The 9.5 really doesn't get off the water any sooner but the glide is perceptibly better than the 7.7. If there's a hint of a white cap, not worth it. But on a day like today, it was. 4.5/5
Sort of similar at Galts. Sailed 7.0 and got a some good rides here and there as I adjusted to my new sail. Probably would have taken a much bigger sail (e.g. 9.4) to do much better. BTW - the good news is that school is apparently back in session and not many boats on the lake or people on the beach.

Gorge report.
3.0 at Hatchery today, 3.4 yesterday.
Last weekend, 100F and no wind...floated down the Klickitat River.
Marek
so far this week, you've used 2/3 of the area I used today... Is that a good thing or bad?
3.0? I can't even imagine... 100F? You were supposed to leave the heat down here. Did you put it in a cardboard box by mistake?
Next 3.0 day, take a pic for us so we can understand just a little
I wish I had a picture of Dale Cook going by on a 4.2 while every one else is on 3.0 range. He goes good 20ft in the air and lands about 50 feet from takeoff. That was amazing to see him on the water.
Here is a video from you youtube of him.

What I want to know is whether people are wearing wetsuits in the Gorge now with 100 degree heat, and water from melted snow coming down the mountains.....

Water just reached 70F. On the hot days some people just wear board shorts. Most wear some neoprene at all times. Really depends on how much time you spend in the water. Also, most days are in the mid 70s to mid 80s in the summer. The few very hot spells usually are not windy.
