McCollum showing dots today according to Noah. Just sayin.

"Today Mostly sunny, with a high near 94. Heat index values as high as 97. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph."

So, Old 41? btw, Euro is showing wind both at Allatoona and Lanier while GFS is showing a blank spot on Lanier. Interesting which one gets this right today. Too bad that new 1800 wing hasn't arrived yet. Biggrin

Re: Wed 7/17

In theory Old 41 would be better. Problem is Old 41 is even less reliable than Galts, so idk. It really depends on how much S is in it. I go to Old 41 about once every 3-4 years. Usually I get disappointed and don't come back for a long time. Then once in a while, there is a good day and that keeps me from swearing it off forever......

Ideally Fields Landing or Sweetwater, but those places are pretty far away and not worth it on an iffy forecast like this. Fields is the best SW place I've sailed on either lake. Also one of the longest drives.

OTOH - if there was some signs of life at G-ville and enough S in it, I'd consider my secret spot (lITTle rIDGe).

No matter where one goes on a day like this a Plan B (longboard) would make sense. But I probably wont bring one. Maybe I will see if I can sail my RF81 with one of these.......On sale for $10 at Kiteboarding.com (don't know about shipping though.)

I"m betting he/she can do that just as well without the umbrella. And I'm pretty sure I couldn't do that with or w/o the umbrella.....

I think this is the key to how all of these things are being done. Sorry to be outing all these windsurf/surf/SUP legends out there. But your dirty little secret is out.

RF81andy, meh, pro cyclists have been doing that for years... Allegedly. Diablo But, semi-seriously, Specialized has just come out with a new line of high end e-road bikes. Prices range from $9000-16,500. https://www.specialized.com/us/en/turbo-creo

I bet they sell more of these than Slinghshot sells foil boards. Wind seems sketchy today - I may hold off until tomorrow to try to earn some brownie points at home.

I think you are confusing me with someone less conscientious about their obligations. Wink

I'm in for today, hopefully around noon, either Old Fed or Van Pugh, depending on the wind shadow.

Chris V and I windsported at LLC - film at 11.

Chris P, Dave and Alejandro did Old Fed. Nice breeze after the rain cleared out and I rigged a realistic (7.7) sail.

Re: Wed 7/17

You missed a few at Old Fed - Pat, Gene, Jim and me. Perhaps we left by the time attendance was taken. Some more foiling rides today but, as you can see in the video Pat doesn't need a foil to go fast. BTW - I'm thinking I could have gotten up quicker if I had moved my back foot farther back. Comments - foil gurus?

Re: Wed 7/17

Chris V gave me the report. He swung by 3 pm or so. We'll change the attendance records accordingly.

Yeah - my $0.02, try moving foot back a couple of inches and (more importantly) boom up the same. Moving boom up will put more pressure on the back foot. Once you start to accelerate, think about straightening the front arm which effectively sheets you in and gives you more power. Foils are sensitive to the amount of power in the sail so the more consistent you can make it, the steadier you fly (that's why cambers).

Glad everyone there had fun.
