A Denverish solution for Old Fed, VP and Vanns?

https://www.cnn.com/2019/07/02/us/denver-canadian-geese-food-trnd/index.html

Quote:
The city of Denver apparently has a new motto: Geese are not friends. They're food. Fed up with its growing goose problem, the city has implemented an initiative to round up its Canada geese and process them into food for "needy families," US Department of Agriculture spokeswoman Suzanne Bond said. "The resident goose population in this area is too large, which will cause many problems including overgrazing of grass, ornamental plants and agricultural crops; accumulation of droppings and feathers; disease, attacks on humans by aggressive birds; and the fouling of reservoirs, swimming areas, docks, lawns and recreational areas," Bond said.

Good idea. Let's turn the hunter loose on a weekend in July or August (so as not to possibly conflict with useful wind) and convert as many geese to food as they can. Or just declare open season and tell everyone entering the park they can cook any goose they can bag.

I'm not sure if I saw this in a movie or Barrett took this video...

I know this guy who removes the birds from Lake Lanier Islands. Once he told me that he tagged a couple of the birds. What he found was that he was removing the same birds over and over from LLI and getting paid each and every time for that task.

I guess this is government waste.

My suggestion is for them to collect all that green poop and make it into crayons for little kids to use while waiting for dinner at Cracker Barrel. At least if they collect the green stuff then the green stuff will stay off my sails, boom, my butt when downhauling and my shoes.

Waterfowl

Canada goose and teal hunting is allowed on Lake Lanier:

The season for Lake Lanier is generally in September.
The bag limit is 5 geese per day (10 in possession) and 4 teal per day (8 in possession)
Hunting is allowed on the lake except:
Within 1000 feet of any dock, house, bridge, road, boat ramp, marina etc.

Alan posted some great info regarding the fact that we can hunt geese legally at the lake, so I was trying to organize a posse to help eliminate the goose problem. But that's when everything went up in smoke. It really ought to be pretty easy to turn a bunch annoying live geese into dead ducks....But we need the rules, which Alan posted.

So - no prohibition against geese hunting (or as I like to call it goossasinitation) at windsurfing launches. We might even just go Negan on them and not bother with duck calls, shot guns, etc. Heck - one of William's extra foils would probably work just fine.

We're lucky are problem are geese. In Florida (of course, Florida) it's iguanas

https://www.cnn.com/2019/07/03/us/iguanas-florida-overpopulation-trnd/index.html

Quote:
Think Florida: sandy beaches with lines of palm trees, all bathed in gorgeous sunshine. Now add iguanas to that mental picture. Lots of them. That's the reality in the Sunshine State, where homeowners are now encouraged to kill green iguanas they find on their properties, a statement on the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's website reads. "Homeowners do not need a permit to kill iguanas on their own property, and the (wildlife commission) encourages homeowners to kill green iguanas on their own property whenever possible," the statement reads. "Iguanas can also be killed year-round and without a permit on 22 public lands in south Florida."

Scratch the Florida thing and don't let anyone from Florida come hunt for geese
https://fox28spokane.com/florida-iguana-hunter-shoots-pool-worker-mistaking-him-for-iguana/

"A Florida homeowner is horrified when an iguana hunter shoots a pool maintenance worker instead of a giant lizard with a pellet gun.

According to the Boca Raton Police Department, a neighbor hired the iguana hunter to kill nuisance iguanas in the area.

Kind of hard to see how Dog the Iguana Hunter confused a pool maintenance guy for a lizard.

Randy, you're the man for the job. I recall you having a windsurfing board with a paddle mount. You used it in the winter as backup in case the wind died when you were sailing alone. That paddle mount should easily convert into a rifle rack for blasting those pesky geese.

All these crazy posts point out how desperate windsurfers get during the summer doldrums, myself included.
