Looking for Kite Lessons

I made the mistake of trying to teach myself how to kite. It was exhilarating, and i'm lucky it was a big beach.
I'm looking for lessons and someone knowledgeable to look over my kit, but i cant seem to find any around Atlanta.

Check some of the threads on the Kiting Forum. Here is one with a bit of discussion on this topic.

I don’t think anyone teaches Kiteboarding in the Atlanta area, (for obvious reasons) and probably the closest spot to take lessons is going to be Tybee Island. Most of the Kiteboarding shops on the coast probably offer lessons. Do be careful if you’re trying to figure it out without lessons as you don’t want to hurt yourself or someone else.

Even if there were an instructor in town, the wind looks like it has shut down for the summer. Take a trip to Tybee, Charleston, FL or, even better, OBX in the fall.

I hope I'm wrong about the shutdown but June was exceptionally windy - normal this time of year is not much wind at all. Cray 2

Atlanta can be a notoriously difficult place to kite. Almost everyone gets those early miles in somewhere else steadier and more forgiving.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Colin, sometimes we give each other a hard time around here. Good on you for taking the steps towards instruction - it will save you an incredible amount of time instead of spending months trying to sort it out yourself and you'll start off with good habits. Biggrin

And do let us know how the lessons went, especially if you get a good instructor - it'll help the next guy/gal who wants to do the same thing.

Edit: OBX: https://www.realwatersports.com/pages/kiteboarding-lessons If you've never been there, OBX is the Mecca, Valhalla, Cat's Pajamas and any other analogy you can think of for kiting. Biggrin
