Re: Wednesday 6/12 lunchtime

I intend to be at VP tomorrow (Thurs) afternoon, likely on the earlier side. I am thinking of going today as well but not very sure about the weather and where - might try Vans Tavern or Mary Alice.

Al sailed at Tidwell this morning and said he was fully powered on 7.5 till he left around 10. I sailed MAP today, 6.0+foil, and got a bunch of flights with some "touch and go" landings/takeoffs. New footstrap position made it a lot easier to get out of the water.

Pat windsurfed and I foiled at VP.
Really good winds from 12 to 1:30 then it slacked off some. Still had some flights to ~2:30 but I had to work for it.

Some video from some of today's flights - poor lighting and hard to keep the camera clean that close to the water, but you get the idea.

Randy, time to SEND IT! Biggrin

I'm planning to be at VP from lunch on. btw, the NWS is predicting something less than the dot chart on the front page in case you were thinking of breaking out the 95 l board. Not saying not to "bring everything" but keep you hopes moderated.

It occurs to me windsurfing is missing a huge opportunity. Instead of trying to perfect the performance of foils they ought to work on a camouflage mast - blends in with the water so that they mast is not visible. Suddenly there would be all these reports of UFO windsurfers. Everybody would want one. (Wouldn't work with kites - people will thing the kite holds the rider up.) Foil SUP would probably steal the show - people would think flying carpets had been invented.

Was coming up at the beach one day and a lady at a picnic table seemed somewhat relieved to see a foil under my board. "I thought I could see daylight under your board."

I bet you could make a workable mast out of acrylic. Bendy as crap but fun for a laugh... maybe you could enlist Langdon. (Of course, if the stupid thing snaps and you deep six a thousand dollars worth of wing and fuse, this was not my idea)

Foiled on 6.0 at Galts today. Galts is the easiest place I have foiled yet. Flat water allows for longer flights it seems. I got my Wright Brothers Merit Badge today!*

*The Wright Brother Merit Badge is awarded to Members of the Foil Scouts of America upon completion of their first 12 second flight.

Randy seems to really have this foiling thing figured out, as long as he's sailing somewhere by himself. It doesnt count if no one sees it.

Is that 12 seconds all flights combined?

I'm impressed....... unless the sound on the video is edited and the film speed slowed down on the rides.

You're going to have to start sailing with the rest of us and give us some tips.

I am impressed!

Yep, Randy's hooked. Have seen a kite video from him in a while now
You're making it look easy Randy.
Looks like I need to start foiling at Galts.

Re: Wednesday 6/12 lunchtime

Van Pugh. It blew a lot (15-20ish) a lot of 6.5s on the water, then slacked off. I came in for a snack and decided to change to a big wing.

It then proceeded to pound a solid 15-25 Shok In the lull, a few 7.5s were rigged. They seemed pretty big for the next half hour until it backed off for the rest of the afternoon to 12-20.

Amazing day. A lot of people out - nine or ten? I'm too tired to remember.

Well, since you asked. From yesterday. My alternative Wingsurfer.
